I was able to use CC threads and posts to retrieve the following 19 Level 3 - 5 words that were consensus hits on the March SAT:

pristine, quixotic, unaffected, diffidence, elusive, assuage, indigenous, slight, duplicity, vituperative, inquisition, conundrum, ambiguous, overwrought, conjecture, meticulous, unconventional, plausible, and enigma.

So which vocab list/book performed the best on the March 08 SAT? Here are the results:

Direct Hits Vocabulary: 435 words; 17 hits; 25.5 words per hit

Rocket Review: 323 words; 9 hits; 35.8 words per hit

PR’s Hit Parade: 253 words; 7 hits; 36.1 words per hit

TestMaster’s Short List: 254 words; 7 hits; 36.2 words per hit

Barron’s High Frequency Words: 385 words; 6 hits; 64.1 words per hit

Barron’s Hot Words: 396 words; 5 hits; 79.2 words per hit

SparkNotes: 1000 words; 13 hits; 83.3 words per hit

Kaplan’s SAT Score-Raising Dictionary: 1000 words; 9 hits; 111.1 words per hit

SuperKids: 1120 words; 10 hits; 112 words per hit

PR’s Word Smart: 1505 words; 11 hits; 136.8 words per hit

Barron’s 3,500 Mini-Dictionary: 3500 words; 17 hits; 205.8 words per hit

Kaplan’s SAT book: 500 words; 2 hits; 250 words per hit

It is interesting to note that Direct Hits Vocabulary, PR’s Hit Parade and the Rocket Review remain the top 3 performers. (For the complete results for the June 08 SAT see post 1 on the thread Best Vocabulary List - Results and Recommendations.) The TestMaster’s Short List did much better than in June and the Kaplan SAT book’s 500 word list was a fiasco with just 2 hits.
