Which would you choose? (Sports vs Theater)

Hi, thanks for helping me:)
I am a high school sophomore and I'm interested in just about everything. However I need to make some choices.
Okay so, I love musical theater. Its very fun and I just finished up a musical that I was the lead role in and did a show over the summer. I did my school's musical last year, but I didn't get cast as a part (I just signed up for ensemble), just the ensemble which wasn't very fun.
This year I think I have a better shot because 1) I'm a lot better this year and 2) I'm more outgoing and will actually try for a role. So I was going to audition. (Its hairspray and I am black so the biggest part I could get would be lil inez and its still kinda a small role)

This lasts from October-March. And I could also do Varsity winter track around this time most likely. I also play Travel Volleyball during this time

However, I've wanted to try out some sports as well. I want to try Varsity Basketball (winter) and JV Soccer in the spring. I really want to try something new. I would also be playing travel volleyball during this time as well. What do you think I should do?

Either way, I have to let go of something. I was thinking maybe trying out for the musical and if I get a bad role (ensemble) then I would just try out basketball and soccer. Opinions?

What would look best application wise? Being a all season athlete, or musical theater with a good role (just curious, not going to make my decision off of this)

Is there one you prefer over the other, or is it really like 50/50?

Its honestly 50/50. If I had preferred one, I would not have posted the thread. I feel like If I do the musical, I’ll be mad for not doing basketball. And if I do basketball, I might be mad for not doing the musical

Well, you said you`d just probably get a more of a minor role in the musical, correct?

Well, year round sports certainly seems impressive. You
d probably meet new people too. Personally, sports over musical, but I really don
t know.

If it was me (and if anyone remembers from previous posts, it almost could have been me) I’d pick basketball. But for me I like basketball more (even though really don’t know how fun theater might be)

Oh and on a random note, I never thought that you were black. I always pictured you blond (not calling you stupid)

I doubt anyone on CC, blond or otherwise, is stupid.

Haha I know but saying “you sounded like you were blond” can come across wrong

i’d pick neither.

but the way I see it (as an incredibly unathletic and un-musically-inclined person), year-round sports are cliche. also, one does not simply “try something new” by joining a varsity sports team. generally you have to…be good to be on varsity. ya dig? I don’t really know what your experience is with any of those sports so maybe you do know how to play.

there’s something cool about being in theater with all of these arts cuts lately.

There’s an old Japanese proverb: “The neighbor’s flowers are red.”

@goodnoodle…yeah I know what you mean :D

^^ Our Women’s basketball team is awful, there is only a varsity team. I mean I played for 4 years in basketball but never for school.

@goodnoodle…erm…blonde? Funny. No, I’m native american and african american with like 1/16 Japanese.

I think it might be cuz you played Alice in wonderland. So I thought blond.

Haha, wow. Yeah, I guess I do that too for people on here…I mean, if you`re talking to people that you have no idea what they look like, you sort of just create a random image of the person in your mind.
