While Waiting

<p>Recent articles such as the one below, recommend that the student contact the admissions office in Feb- March to let them know of their continued interest, give updates on activities etc. My D. believes that this will be viewed negatively, and that she should contact them only if something spectacular happens. What is the correct advice to give her?
She has already visited her top choice colleges, and interviewed with Alumni wherever interviews were offered.</p>

<p>She has already “demonstrated interest” so I don’t think she needs to do anything else.
If she wins a MAJOR award of some kind, she can let them know.
Also if you check the website of the schools she applied to, you can often find out whether they want to hear from you. For many selective schools, it is “don’t call us, we’ll call you”.</p>
