While we wait for April, a poem!

Ok, one can obviously sense all of the anxiousness on this site for the April letters. All of it has created a certain sense of angst while we wait for two more months. So in the midst of all this teenage angst I’ve decided to write a poem about the whole experience. I make no claims to be a major writer of some sort, but I like to put some words on paper every once in a while. I hope to see you in New Jersey this fall! Until then this is my Applicant's Prayer.

The Princeton Applicant's Prayer

Princeton, O Princeton,
O hear my applicants prayer.
Gargoyles, O Gargoyles,
O join me in despair.

For you O Gargoyles,
have invaded my dreams.
Dreams of New England Autumns,
sheets of leaves,
floating through the sunbeams.

Me, a Student,
living the life of the mind.
Tenacious and Audacious,
four years is surely
not enough time.

For passion will rivet me,
she will travel through my marrow,
I will breathe her in,
yet find wisdom as fleeting
as a Sparrow.

But you, O Princeton,
will give me the dreamers net.
Set me up with the tamers,
who will teach me
to make wisdom my pet.

But you will not define me,
Only help me to find who I am.
Four years exploring the deep abyss
I will come out,
a renaissance man.

So Princeton, O Princeton,
do not deny me Matriculation.
I promise I won't dissappoint you.
My passion is true,
not equivocation.

lmao I love it!

Very nice! lol

nice! applauds :D good luck!

(One minor comment, though -- NJ isn't technically in New England.)

Thats soo sexy :p

Gargoyles, O Gargoyles

smirks... oh yeah, creative.... bravo!

Hey, good idea marv, I love poetry. Here is a little poem I just made up...
Of course, bear in mind that this is all "second degree" (i.e. humorous)...

Princeton Blues, inspired by W.H. Auden

Cancel the dreams, annul the ten-year loan,
Do not refrain from letting out a mournful moan,
Bury the essays and let your soul churn,
Tear up the Letter, let the adcoms burn.

Let Princeton sweaters rot beneath your bed,
Spewing acrid odors all around your head,
Sing the song of the rejected and wait-listed,
Allow your friends to know that your hands are fisted.

She was my Love, my Friend, my Cream and Pie,
My fleeting goal and my April lie,
My dream, my mirage, my food, my crumb;
I thought that I would be accepted: I was dumb.

The pre-froshs aren’t a good idea: shut them up;
Lock up the tigers and silence that pup;
Destroy the computer and shut down CC,
For the whole world now is but a dark ugly sea.

Wildsky

[I guess I have to sign :-)]

I realize that the you / I formulation isn't really coherent in this poem (the original poem doesn't mention any "you" 's), but then again that's not the only thing that's not coherent!
