White Female Trying To Get Into MIT?

I go back and forth between thinking my chances are slim to none or I am going to get in.. I am not sure. I am a girl just finishing my sophomore year in high school in New Jersey. I'm trying really hard to get into a Top-Tier/Ivy League. I'd like to stay in the northeast or maybe California. I would really appreciate it if someone would take the time and read this and whatever you do don't spare my feelings, I'd like you to be brutally honest.

Bio:
Year:Finishing sophomore in high school
Race:Caucasian
Gender:Female
Focusing on Math and Physics, maybe Chemistry
Religion: Pagan

I recently heard that if you're parents did not go to college your chances of getting in are better. I'm not sure how valid or true this is if anyone has any input. Neither of my parents went to college, but my grandfather went to MIT. He did not graduate though, because he got drafted.

Academics:
-Principal's Honor Roll Every Semester-your grades need to be a 98 or higher weighted (my school uses block scheduling, four classes a day 1h 20min classes half the year and then we switch to the four other classes. total 8 per year)
-PreCalculus as a sophomore with the second highest grade at the moment-98 average unweighted. The guy that has the highest grade-his mom teaches the class..lol
-All honors classes, focusing in math and the sciences
-I am in the top ten percent of my class
-Unweighted GPA (with 92's considered A minuses)- 3.96
-Junior year I will be taking Honors Calculus, along with other Honors classes, AP Chemistry and AP English. Senior year will be all honors classes plus AP Calculus and AP Physics
-I have a real problem with cheating at school, and unfortunately everyone at my school cheats, so my class rank isn't fabulous, but its decent (top ten percent)
-Private school (if this even helps?)
-I am almost one hundred percent I am majoring in Mathematics or Electrical Engineering, and I heard thats good to go in for a girl because not as many girls go for that.

Athletics:
-Varsity Letter as Freshman for Tennis
-Undefeated at Third Doubles (big tennis team) freshman year
-Undefeated at Second Singles sophomore year
-Player of the Year Award Sophomore Year
-Tennis Champion four years in a row at the Racquet Club
-Highly Ranked Nationally for Show Jumping (horseback riding)
-Applied for a professional license that will be implemented in this fall
-Won over 10,000 dollars in prize money, trained my own horse

EC's
-Manager of a 6,000 sq ft clothing store
-Over 160 hours helping autistic children learn to ride horses
-Law Club
-Math League
-Spanish Club
-Put together many local fashion shows where all the proceeds go to research foundations or other charitable organizations
-Raised over 3,000 dollars in one weekend to fund the Masonic Children's Learning Center for Dyslexic kids. They were going to close down due to insufficient funds
-Currently working to change New Jersey's law to recognize dyslexia as a learning difference so teachers can be taught the orton-gillingham method of learning

Weird Things About Me:
My favorite subjects are Science, Math, and Theology
I summon entities and practice magick
I have a pet dead lizard
I am allergic to the sun..no kidding
If you saw me I look like a dumb blonde, sort of like Elle Woods in Legally Blonde
I'm a swimsuit model (legitimately, like Elite Models in New York)

I don't think I forgot anything, but please tell me what you think! I go back and forth thinking I'll have a chance getting into a top school and not thinking they'll even consider me. I am very good family friends with a man that works at the admissions office at Princeton and know a good amount of Ivy Graduates well, but I really don't want to have to rely on them for acceptance. Sometimes I think I think too highly of myself or I'm going way over my head..I am just very confused with the whole matter. Thank you!!

I’m not sure how to chance you, since you claim to have a cheating problem. If you indeed are a somewhat consistent cheater, then I think that you will probably not get into any of the colleges you want. Princeton operates on an honor code (there are no proctors for exams), and I highly doubt that they would take you. Plus, your schedule is not all that impressive (only 4 aps total) and your extra curriculars, interesting as they may be, are not by any means unbelievable. I’m sorry, but good colleges do not accept cheaters. You better have a really good connection at princeton.

“I summon entities and practice magick

hahahaha ***

no no painoman2012, sorry i probably should have clarified, I have a problem with cheating, like I have a problem with people that do cheat. I never cheat, really. It goes completely against my morals.

Oh. MUCH better hahaha. You have a fairly good chance, as your ECs are quite good (the job experience is nice, as are the sports - I wouldn’t put too much faith in the modeling), and your GPA is solid. To fully chance, however, I would need some test scores (preferably SAT). One thing that I can advise you on, though: taking two Aps during junior and senior year is simply not that intensive of a schedule. Consider doing 3 and 4. Colleges give far more weight to good scores in Ap classes than in honors classes, because Ap curricula are standardized, while honors are designed by the school. Do that, and you will have a decent chance for top tiers.

unfortunately i haven’t taken the SAT’s yet :frowning: but I got the Kaplan book the other day and got a perfect score on the math, the writing was solid but my reading was…ugh. lol I am getting a tutor though, so hopefully I’ll improve :)

for my schedule next year (junior year) I can’t fit more than two AP’s in my schedule :frowning: We have block scheduling at my school (four classes a day 1h 20min) heres my schedule for next year
1)Religion (mandatory)
2)US 1 Honors (mandatory)
3)Spanish 3 Honors (not mandatory, but I should take another year…)
4)Calculus Honors
5) AP English runs all year, so this is also period 6
7) AP Biology and Chemistry (can’t decide between the two) runs all year as well, so thats also period eight.

Should I take AP Bio or AP Chem next year? I’ve already taken two years of bio, but I’m thinking about getting into pharmaceuticals or electrical engineering (totally different…lol) so should I be taking AP Bio with AP Chem? or AP Chem with AP Physics? And is just half a year (technically one year, but just a long class) of math enough? I sometimes feel like with just AP bio and Calculus Honors there isn’t enough math than there would be with AP chem and Calculus Honors… I’m taking AP Calc Senior Year

And I’m not allowed to take more than 3 AP classes per year, it interferes with the religion requirements… :/

And I cannot take AP Bio and AP Physics in the same year, they overlap period wise.

Swimsuit model?

I think this is key for your application. You better post some pics, so we can judge how big that factor is.
The more the merrier.

I’ve reccomended this to multiple other people, and that’s to self study AP exams! Since your curriculum won’t let you take that many AP’s, you can self study to show universities that you’re capable of handling a challenging courseload. My advice would be to maybe study one or two next year, and keep increasing until senior year. I only self studied senior year, and wished I did it earlier. And also, make sure to study for your SAT’s, and start early. Check out this thread for more info on self studying, the guy who wrote it got into MIT. :)

I like the self study for AP’s a lot! thats a really good idea, i’m thinking i’ll do that for AP bio…

Another quick question, long story short my mom is a personal shopper for a journalist at fox news and at the moment I am preparing to go to the state to change laws for children with dyslexia and get them the learning program they need because their learning style is much different than with kids with pure auditory processing disorder… so I may be on Fox News or another news channel for my work along with my brother’s learning specialist, who happens to be my outside guidance counselor

will trying to go to state with this look good or impressive on my resume? i’m not doing it just for that, because it is mostly in my brother’s interest and will greatly impact his childhood, but will this get me a better chance of getting in? i’m seriously considering brain and cognitive science (i guess neuroscience) as a major now…
