white girl gets 4th year RA kicked out of library, arrested, for being Muslim

A U.S. Air Force study found over one-fourth of women who accused men of rape recanted either just before taking or after failing a lie detector test — their most common reason being “spite or revenge” — and it concluded 60% of the rape allegations were false.

Forensic Science Digest, v. 11. n. 4, 12/85; Archives of Sexual Behavior, 1994, v. 23, n. 1.

This is funny coming from a Michigan resident.

BTW: The title of this thread is absolutely ridiculous and false.

^ This. It happens more than you think.

It is not “the law turning an evil eye on them and saying they don’t deserve sympathy” as you say. It simply makes the accused innocent until proven guilty.

@jazzpark You know, that report is kind of old, things have changed in 17 years, you could try to maybe opt for a more recent study? At least you don’t do what some of the homophobes I’ve seen do, citing studies from the 50s and 60s.

Homophobe? Are you on crack?

I have no idea why people are arguing that women should automatically be believed over men. That in itself is sexist.

Here are some more recent stories for you: [The False Rape Society](http://falserapesociety.blogspot.com/)

lol, The South

But like I said, we had a college meeting thing about sexual assault, and women that were assaulted (or claim they were) are called “survivors” instead of victims. That’s worse than “accusers”

^I’m not calling you homophobic, I was just stating what happened in the Prop 8 Trial last year, all the studies the Yes On 8 side provided came from like the 1950s-1960s, with maybe a small number (1-2) coming from the 80s but they were all very outdated studies. And I was stating that at least the study you chose to highlight was only 17 years old instead of 20, 30, or 40.

The fact that she didn’t like his sociocultural group motivated her. She probably wouldn’t have called the cops on a white boy.

Lol, Michigan. Census confirmed what we all knew about that state.

People like that give the South a bad name. Disgusting.

I’m not a resident of the state of Michigan so you can rip on them all you want, if it’s fun for you or something…

back to the South though, my god…

If he was black he’d already be convicted.

This is probably the vaguest comeback I’ve ever heard in any argument ever. I read your whole post and I’m not sure why you disagree with me. I don’t even know what “rape culture” is but I’ll Google it to find out…

Ah. My Googling results tell me that you just might be a women’s studies/gender studies major, in which case arguing with you is pointless.

But for your own good I’d like to point out this:

See what you did there? You did something that tolerant, progressive, thinking people like yourself aren’t supposed to do. You ASSUMED what I was going to say about you, said it to yourself to spare me the trouble, and then didn’t even defend yourself from it but accepted it. So if you can have this whole debate with yourself and I’m not necessary, can I go read a book or something?

So, where are you from?

Do tell…

This thread heading should get rid of the adjectives. When it does so it has nothing.

So what is the intent?

Statistics on false rape accusations are hard to come by:

[The Forensic Examiner | Archive | Spring 09](http://www.theforensicexaminer.com/archive/spring09/15/)

But as you can see they are common enough to be worth our while to deal with.

I was going to respond to a lot of what you said there, but then it occurred to me that you probably saw the headline “Georgia Republican Wants to Reclassify Rape Victims as ‘Accusers’” and thought “how horrible!” without actually reading what the bill really entails and are now grasping at straws to defend your original position instead of admitting you were wrong to make a stink about things without full knowledge of the facts. The bill is all about not giving a person special rights under the law as a “victim” when no conviction has been secured yet or the smearing of a person’s name until they are tried by jury. To legally classify somebody as a “victim” is, in a way, punishing the alleged rapist without trial or due process.

I see no problem with this bill, and I’m as anti-rape as you can get.

I found out about this story through email…It’s very shocking and justice needs to be served! it’s sooo messed up…

here’s the full story:

cosign, he looks like he is black but to me this isnt a example of a women having more power then a men its a example of Caucasians in general having the most power in america, and minorities are still not being treated fairly(nothing new). Then on top of that its the south, its virginia, its the confederacy state, they like this type of action

It great how William blackstone quotes in the 1760s “better to let ten guilty men go free than one innocent man to suffer” and it’s still relevant today. So yeah if you say false rape happens rarely and should be ignored remember locking up just one innocent man is 10 times worse than letting a rapist go, so I agree that false rape accusations need to be seriously addressed and this Georgia proposition I think is a good first step.
