I was submitting applications relatively last minute (at around 11:45pm), and found the application portal to have crashed; I refreshed frantically for 15 minutes until the deadline but the website did not come back live until about six minutes after the deadline at 12:06. I did send in the two essays, resume, and ranking via email to the internship application email address, but was able to retrieve my short-form answers, which I didn’t have saved on a separate word document.
I experienced the same thing! I also emailed them and included my essays so you are definitely not alone! I even tried doing the live chat option before the deadline but no one responded. Let me know if you hear anything!
In all honestly if any one reading this experienced the same problem, it is best to email AND call them. The more people tell them about this problem, the better. Although I feel like if it was a major problem there would be a frenzy on social media. It is still worth a try. Even 10 people is much better than one. Good luck to both of you! @cfm582 @iaahs
I actually got an email reply from the website running the site because I guess they were responding to my attempt at a live chat. They said that they were aware that it was a widespread problem and were attempting to solve it. They also gave me the same email address that I had already contacted just in case. I think something will work out!
It has come to our attention that yesterday evening, January 11, many users were unable to submit their application for the Summer 2015 White House Internship Program. We apologize for the inconvenience, and to address this, we are reopening the Summer 2015 application tomorrow, January 13 from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM Eastern Time. You are receiving this email because our records indicate you have started, but did not submit, an application for the Summer 2015 term or you submitted an application for the Fall 2015 term shortly after the close of the Summer 2015 application.
If you would like to be considered for the Summer 2015 program, please return to your application to complete and submit it on Tuesday, January 13 between 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM Eastern Time. If you submitted an application for the Fall 2015 term mistakenly, please withdraw your application and resubmit it for the Summer term on January 13.
Letters of recommendation will also be accepted on January 13.
