White House Internship

Haha that’s awesome! Hey, it shows real motivation to work for that office. So no word back from them yet? My top choices were the office of legislative affairs, DPC, and office of the chief of staff.

Hey Shan I listed Legislative Affairs as my number 1 and Office of the Chief of Staff was up there as well. I haven’t heard anything either… best of luck to you!

Firstdue, best of luck to you as well! I have my fingers crossed for all of us.

Haha, I hope so! Only dpc contacted me which was my next option. So it seems only a couple of offices have started ?

do you guys know, from personal knowledge or reading the previous posts, is it possible to be considered from a different department than the one that you have been contacted by? i’ve been contacted by a division within DPC (sent in my writing samples)but that wasnt my first choice (still very grateful), but it seems like dept such as chief of staff, office of the 1st lady etc are not contacting students. maybe thoughs are the offices that take ppl w/o interviewing?

Hi,

I’m not sure, I haven’t come across any posts by people who have been considered/interviewed by 2 departments, but I don’t doubt that may happen.

Yes. My friend who didnit last year said he was contacted by his first choice last and he ended up working with his first choice.
When I looked over past posts, it seems only one person on the board got the I internship without being interviewed, that is what someone stated.
Have you had an interview yet?

ok, bc it seems like DPC is the only one that is doing this submit additional writing samples, then interviews etc. my friend who is with dpc now went through the same process.

I have mine tomorrow. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Okay with what department in dpc?

Good luck with your interview! Let us know how it goes.

Any more updates?? I wish waiting was easier

No updates here; According to previous posts, most rejections should go out on Monday so at least we will know and most of the waiting agony will be over!

ugggh that will be horrible!
I am doing this program where I HAVE to find an internship.
Not sure what I will do if I don’t get in…

everything went well. the asked general questions about my work ethic, availability, how i would handle certain situations. just like a typical interview. should know my end of the week or early next week

I think you have a really good chance! You should start looking into plan B’s just in case; maybe contact senator offices and see if they are taking interns, specifically look at senator’s who are on health committees. Also check out idealist.org, I found some pretty good alternative options there. Do you have to do an internship in DC?

Shan, Yes it has to be in DC. I will check out idealist.org, I forgot about that site.
I have applied to several internships, but I will not know for a while. I will apply to more this weekend.

lillybilly, what department within DPC did you interview with?

Caramel, where are you from? If you aren’t from DC, what are you planning on doing for housing? It’s so expensive.

I am from up north. The program I am doing at my school provides housing and academic credit.

Shan, wbu and housing?

I’m sort of in a similar situation, although my internship doesn’t have to be in DC. I’ve started looking for housing on Craigslist, but at this point really just browsing since I’m not really sure where I’m going to end up internship wise.
