I totally only responded to the e-mail address intern_application@whitehouse.gov or whatever it was and not the one that said @who.eop.gov. Whoops! Well, I just corrected my mistake and sent it to both again. Do you think it’s too late?

Okay so if the notifications begin on a rolling basis starting in 7 days, someone should get a call this week for an interview! I AM SO EXCITED :)

The anxiety begins…

Im confused??? It appears that someone may have already recieved a notification??? I found this on a google search!

[Minnesota students chosen for summer at White House | mndaily.com - Serving the University of Minnesota Community Since 1900](http://www.mndaily.com/2011/01/28/u-students-chosen-summer-white-house)

But the date seems to puzzle me. The date indicated, was only a few days after the deadline!!!

I think that was just an error on the writer’s part.

This article says that the White House released the names of the interns for Spring 2011 on January 28th. Odds are the Minnesota writer just read the news release wrong

[WNYers intern at White House | WIVB.com](http://www.wivb.com/dpp/news/erie/WNYers-intern-at-White-House)

So I was wondering if any one else that applied for Summer 2011 felt comfortable sharing what their GPA was? That is the only thing I am worried about (mine) and when I called the internship office, they said they couldn’t share information about intern class average GPA with me. Or does any one know what kind of GPA they look for, or if a candidate is completely disregarded on the basis of GPA?

I wouldn’t freak out too much about your GPA. Don’t get me wrong. I think it is a factor in acceptances, but I don’t think it’s their primary consideration. Interns come from diverse schools all over the country (Ivys, public, graduate school, law school, ect). And then of course, there are even a few high school students thrown in the mix and people that do the program right out the military. Even with the varying disparities in the difficulty of programs in which students are enrolled (i.e. the difficulty of an English major vs. engineering), there’s the added fact that so many schools have different weighting systems to calculate GPA and there’s varying levels of grade inflation and deflation depending on the school. Add all that up, and you have no possible way to fairly compare and evaluate the GPA of one student against that of another. I think it matters that they see that you have a pattern of success and achievement (ie: consistency in your results) but if you’re asking if you could get rejected because your GPA is a 3.5 and someone else has a 3.6 or something, I highly doubt that would be the difference. Hope that helps.

Yeah it does, thanks, I’m just kinda of freaking out because I didn’t get a vitals e-mail and it seems like they were all sent out at once =(

Has anyone hear anything? Vital came out last week and I was expecting to possibly have an interview soon, just wondering if anyone has recieved a phone call for an interview. Next we is the 20th.

I haven’t heard anything yet…nor do I think anyone else has either otherwise this blog would be lighting up with posts. My bet’s on the WH extending the deadline for notifications at this point. I’ve heard they’ve done that in the past. Wouldn’t put it past them.

My daughter (who did get a vitals email) got a call from another internship she applied for asking her to interview next week. Of course she said yes to the interview. But she is willing the phone to ring from the WH… nothing yet, of course. She has to give her cell phone up for security reasons during the day at her current internship, so she has been asking me by email if any of you guys are posting about getting calls during the day :)

intparent and HPL : I am soo super nervous I check my phone almost every hour for that phone call. I think I can worry a little less if I at least get a phone call. But until then I guess its back to sleepless night and worrying days. LoL!

hey everyone, I’ve been following this forum for a while now, and I just decided to hop in. I’m banking on the vitals email being one determination whether one has made it past the initial cuts. From what I’ve read on all of these 160 or so pages, a vitals email doesn’t indicate you’re out, it’s a good sign, a phone interview, doesn’t indicate anything more than the vitals. If someone is qualified for this internship I’m pretty sure they will select you, if they’re on the brink, maybe that’s why they offered a phone interview. Hypothetically if I were a WH coordinator for this program, I wouldn’t bother interviewing someone who was very thorough on their application and conversely their recommendations indicated that as well. So a phone interview, while good doesn’t mean all hope is gone. A vitals email, while good…doesn’t really indicate hope is gone but is a good indicator. I’m cautiously waiting for a decision back myself. I got the vitals email, but I haven’t heard anything else, I’m being patient, it’s one of the only ways you’ll get through the entire process and not be hurt.

A while ago (weeks) I read most of this thread (hate those people who just “chat” all night long on the thread, it takes pages and pages…). I got the impression that:

Everyone who got an interview had received the vitals email

No one seems to have gotten an offer without having an interview (worth saying, as my daughter got an offer from the State Department this semester without an interview, but that scenario has not been mentioned in the past on this thread).

Most of the people who got interviews did get an internship offer.

I will attempt to remember and share what I know, now that the WH has released the names of the 2011 spring interns. We had been instructed to not discuss in a public forum previously.
DD submitted her application by Oct 03. In about 7-10 days later received a vitals email. About a week later she received a phone call from the intern coordinator. then roughly a week later she received a call to set up an phone interview 2 days later. Still no confirmation Nov 15h-when they said rolling decisions were going to start…she got an email saying to please be patient, applicants were still being feted. Just before Thanksgiving she was again encouraged to be patient, but decisions were still not available. The Monday (29th) after Thanksgiving she was called, and congratulated. She then was asked to fill out a 20+/- page security form to fill out.
She was placed in her first choice. She did not receive phone calls from any of the other departments-only her first choice.

I hope this helps those applying now. Good Luck-if you have further questions-send me a PM-
APOL-a Mum

I’m a bit worried cause it’s now Thursday and no calls. But we have to stay positive. I hope we hear something soon but just in case I’m preparing for the fall submission. We will see I guess. I hope someone hears something soon.

Well they extended the deadline for summer applications, didn’t they? That might account for a possible extension in notification, as everything might be pushed back.

One can only assume that to be the case jeap13 but who knows

still no one has heard anything beyond vitals emails? judging from previous posts, it seems like we should have been hearing about interviews by now. i guess it’s at least encouraging for all of us that none of us has heard anything (assuming that’s still the case!)
