notifications do NOT begin tomorrow, its President’s Day!! federal holiday, white house staffers will most likely be out of office :)

Most people will not be in the same step of the process at any time now given that offices work at different paces. I am optimistic that most who received vitals emails will receive a call or email for an interview slot. As previously stated, why would they send vitals emails to certain individuals and not all applicants if they were already cut. If you spelled your name and information correctly, you should still be in the running.

Otherwise I’m starting to think the process goes like this:

Application submitted

Preliminary read by intern office (a cut is made)

Vitals request email sent

Application forwarded to respective offices (cuts made by offices)

Respective offices contact who they are interested in
6.Notifications sent by the respective office for those accepted (last cuts made)

Notifications sent by the intern office for those rejected

This is the only way I can explain why those who got vitals email in the past cycles did not get interviews.

Happy President’s Day to everyone on this forum! I agree with West2EastLaw based on what I’m reading from the past. Not everyone that receives Vitals gets interviewed, but most everyone who’s interviewed has gotten the Vitals. I’m really hoping that interviews will start this week for those of us who weren’t contacted last week! :)

we can always look forward to serving as interns under President Palin in 2012-2013 …

dear god don’t say such things knocks on wood

adnap I hope you aren’t giving me false hope as somebody who didn’t get the vitals request!

I’m pretty sure the respective office sends their choices back to the internship office, which makes final choices.

Out of curiosity, I am sorry if this is totally random&out of subject, but how old are yalls? I am just graudating from high school and i want to know if that decreases my chance as an intern bc they would think i am not “experienced” enough

I sent in my application and got sent a vitals form. Should I be worried that I haven’t been contacted for an interview? I applied to the First Lady’s Office followed by the Office of Public Engagement and then White House Council. I’m just starting to get anxious.
-What kind of questions are asked in the interviews? Are they difficult, intricate policy questions or just general stuff such as why do you want to work for this department, what qualities do you have, etc?
-Also, when they contact you for the interview, can you schedule a time that works for you or do you have to do it on the spot?

Anyway thanks everyone!

I’m fresh out of high school as well.

I think if you got a vitals request you pretty much have not been eliminated. There’s no way to be sure. But at this stage it seems like interviews are only just beginning, so having a vitals request pending an interview is precisely where you’d want to be.

would anybody mind sharing the exact wording of the vitals form?

It just asks for your identifier number, ssn, birthday, full name, preferred name, email, and then asks if you can participate in a full time internship.

That’s so odd because those were all things that were asked in the actual app…

scratch that. The app never asked for entire SSN, only last 4 digits.

This is what the vitals email was like.

anyone who has gotten an interview, can you please give a brief description of the types of questions that were asked? thanks!

crap, that coupled with what somebody else mentioned about the person they spoke to on the phone saying the vitals were important just took away my last vestiges of hope.

Cat, could you specify on what the form asked?

In response to any of the HIGH SCHOOLERS applying. I’m in high school as well, I did recieve the vitals email. I don’t think that your education level is going to hinder your experience level at all. I have a lot of experience with working on campaigns and working in politics, I started in literally 9th grade. I’ve always been the youngest at the table. So don’t think that your grade level is going to decrease your chances at all, it shouldn’t. If you demonstrated your abilities in the application, don’t fret.

Convig just basic information like your identifier number, social, dob, first and last name, preferred name, email and whether or not u can do a full time internship.

That’s it. I haven’t heard anything else which makes me really nervous. I’m trying not to think about it but I’m really stressed out. I just want to know already. Just like everyone else I guess. Lol patience

Hey everyone, I have been following this thread for a while and decided to post. I received the vitals, but have not heard anything else since then. In response to the age question above, I am a Junior in college, but I think your experience and passion for Democratic politics matters more than your age. This is just my opinion though, not necessarily the White House’s! Has anyone heard anything yet? I am super nervous too, checking my e-mail and phone constantly :)

Doesn’t anyone find it quite odd no one else on this forum has had interviews yet besides the girl who created an account to tell us her and her friend got an interview. I guess I just thought we would have heard something by now. But I guess we will know something this week one way or another.

Yeah, I go to a school where many people applied and 2 of my 3 friends got vitals, but none of us have heard back yet. One of my friends had a recommendation from his Congressman that he interned for, so I considered him a very strong applicant, but he hasn’t hear anything either.
