ditto adnap’s sentiment. However, I am also curious to know if acceptances are via email or phonecall

No news yet. Hopefully we will hear something by the end of this week.

I’m curious if anyone else received rejection notices, besides the 2 mentioned in previous posts.

@summer2011: No, I haven’t heard a peep out the WH since the vitals e-mail. Now, whether that’s good, bad or indifferent, I don’t know but at this point, I’m thinking I’ll have to reapply in the fall. I’m okay with that outcome, but at this point, I’d just like to hear something and if they’re going to reject me, I kind of wish they’d just get it over with, but I’m sure by next week I should know for sure.

I read this entire thread , and those who were accepted seemed to imply that they received an email. So hopefully that is the case. I’ve read basically every news story (Here is one I think is really inspiring: [Obama White House Interns: Bags, Meetings, Unforgettable Experiences](http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/02/18/obama-white-house-interns-bags-meetings-unforgettable-experie/)) about intern experiences and they do not specifically mention how they were notified. I think it will be by email.

A long time ago, I thought I remembered reading an article about someone being at their student job when finding out their acceptance through email, because they mentioned that they had screamed and yelled so loud the coworker next to them became alarmed, but I cannot find that now.Or I could be mistaken.

There were definitely a few people still rejected, even if they received both a vitals e-mail and a phone interview. Don’t be too confident that just because you received a vitals e-mail that you got an internship…although I do consider receiving a vitals e-mail as the completion of the second round, assuming that the first round is getting your applications passed around and not thrown away immediately.
Third round = phone interview. Last and final round = acceptance e-mail!

Anyway, there is still hope…and since it is almost the end of the week, hopefully we hear something very soon!

Also, although I am not completely sure, it is to my understanding that even if you did not receive a phone interview, you MAY still be selected for an internship if someone is incapable of completing the internship over the summer. So don’t give up just yet!

I’ve heard only a few offices do interviews, depends what department you apply to.

Liberalspirit, that is quite an encouraging thought. Where did you hear that? Although that seems totally crazy to me as an adult who does “normal” job hiring, it could be the case for the WH. My daughter has an internship this semester for another federal government agency where exactly that happened. She got a phone call just offering her the internship with no interview questions at all. She was floored (and thrilled). I told her it is the last time in her life that will probably happen! Here’s to hoping that it is not the last time, and the WH does the same for this summer :)

Haha that is what my thoughts were. I too have another internship w another govt agency as a backup who did the same. A past intern for Fall 2009 informed me they will have a lot of “sub-interns” that just get an email without interview of acceptance. If they mimic
their ways…a good shot!

Oh and I know of a Deaf lady who got accepted for the Summer 2011 intern. Talk about equal employement :)

Reading all of this has made me feel good then not good haha. I still don’t know how to feel since I have not received anything from the WH, at all. I know some of you said that I’m not out of the game, but man this is rough waiting !

Dear Applicant,
Thank you for applying to the Summer 2011 White House Internship Program. We are still processing your application and will notify you via email when we have made a decision.

received that not more than 5 seconds ago. keep in mind I never got vitals.

did anybody just get a rejection today?

I just received this email as well.

That is, the still processing email.

just got the same “still in process” email. i just quickly glanced back at this forum and saw that, during at least one cycle (fall 2010), these emails went out on friday and were followed later in the day by acceptances for some–although it appears not all–of the applicants who received the still in process…

Just got the same email! Again, never had a vitals or phone interview.

Also just got the “still in process” email. I’ve had a vitals email, and had a phone interview.

kat is right. but fall 2010 is the only instance of that happening.

convig, it looks like something roughly similar happened to the spring 2011 applicants. on dec. 9 (a thurs.), they got the still processing, and it looks like some then got acceptances later that night (it’s around pg. 155)

hey guys, kat is right. For the past two intern classes, conditional acceptances are sent out within 2 or 3 business days. Meaning we could hear on monday.

if you look around pg. 126-27, it suggests we could still hear something today. some people got the acceptance within hours after getting the still processing (both on a friday, too). but i agree with possintern that the still processing doesn’t seem to mean much–weird that they even send it out if they’re going to then very quickly start sending out acceptances/rejections…
