White House Internship

the waiting continues…

For fall 2010 applicants (pp. 120s), the application still in progress email went out on a Friday (7/23/2010). Hours later some people got an email with the subject line “Conditional Acceptance,” though others needed to wait until the following Monday to get the email. Did anyone receive an acceptance email on Friday?

adnap, it seems like they did NOT send out acceptances friday evening. If they did, nobody here on CC received one OR they’re choosing not to share.

I honestly do not think ANYBODY received an acceptance e-mail Friday. Hopefully we hear something tomorrow!

ditto that sentiment. I feel like we would have heard something from somebody somewhere if any acceptances had gone out.

yeah i agree–or at least hope that’s the case! judging from those previous cycles (for what they’re worth), it seems like we very well may hear something tomorrow…

I can’t sleep…

Is it necessary to get an interview to get accepted? Has anyone just gotten the “still processing” email and then accepted afterwards? Or is there almost always an interview email in between?

AB, I’m not trying to be a ******. Honestly anybody here can (hopefully) attest that I’ve been nothing but helpful and stayed above the fray…but please go back and read through previous posts- you will find that we (and past classes) have discussed that particular quandary to death. If you still have specific questions/ideas we haven’t been talking about for the past 3 months, fire away and I’ll be the first to provide input.

see next page for post that used to be here

All right, I’m just going to say it: Convig for the mega win here! I can’t believe you went through this blog to piece all of that together. I am thoroughly impressed and grateful. All I can say is, even if I don’t get this internship, I am grateful for this blog. It has always been a good source of information/a great place to come and share in the anxiety and stress about this internship. Good luck to everyone tomorrow. No matter what, you’re all winners in my book.

thanks for your post, convig! that will definitely save future applicants countless hours of mindlessly reading through pages of posts to find this information. your efforts are appreciated!

Aw thanks guys, it was no big deal really! You guys are an awesome group so I figured why not. So since it seems like it was helpful, I’m moving it up here so it is better visible.

01/23/2011- Application closes
02/08/2011- Vitals emails sent (16 days after close date).
02/18/2011- First known interview (26 days after close date).
02/21/2011- Beginning of the start of notifications (29 days after the close date).
02/24/2011- First known rejections. There were multiple cases. Individuals with and without vitals requests received rejection letters (32 days after the close date).
03/04/2011- “Application Still In Process” emails sent. In previous years, rejections/acceptances began flowing to recipients of this email almost as soon as 3 hours after they received it. However, there were no reported cases of same-day notifications for summer 2011 applicants (40 days after the close date).
03/07/2011- In past years this Monday has traditionally served as a big cut day (43 days after close date).

Just my luck-first post ever and I get scolded. I was just hoping someone could quickly answer so I wouldn’t have to go through hundreds of pages like you suggested, sorry

haha come on bud, right of passage. Gotta do the leg work! We all had to…besides, reading the thread teaches you a TON about the process more than anything I could summarize. Check out the post above your last one. It may help!

Well nothing yet… I’m hoping we hear something today. I had a dream last night lol where someone from the WH called me to explain the process and they had told me that they had a specific number of categories they had to fill. For example x amount of first year college students, x amount of doctors, x amount of minorities, etc etc pretty crazy huh. I sure hope today is the day.

Good luck to everyone!

Cat

Still nothing here.

@poss - congrats! did you ever get a vitals / phone interview?

Congrats!!! Excited for you!

Ahhh congrats poss! I’m constantly refreshing my e-mail but no news yet (good or bad).
