If poss is any indication, we may be waiting on phonecalls this year…emails may indicate something bad haha

Didn’t Poss say it was an email, followed by a phone call today? So an email can be good
My daughter is stuck at a conference all day without email access, and her cell phone was turned off (she was abroad) when she put in the app. So the phone number on it is our home phone number. I have been checking a few times for her this morning to see if there are any messages…

it seems the email poss mentioned was the vitals email followed by a phone call today notifying him of acceptance.

@poss - any chance you could tell us what office you will be working in? If not, that is okay, I understand.

What time did people get the still processing emails? Mine was at 9:48 in the morning pacific time. Trying to get a handle on when they do correspondence.

no poss, got it last friday! so they called you this morning and offered it?

I got my SP e-mail at the exact same time you did convig (12:48 pm eastern, 9:48 am pacific)

Also, do they tell you what office you’ll be working for when accepted or is it a general acceptance (I think I remember reading earlier that acceptances didn’t specify an office). Possintern, did they tell you that you were going to be working for a specific office or did they just say you had been accepted to the program?

Poss or anyone who had a call for an interview, did they leave a voice mail if you couldn’t pick up?

Poss was never interviewed, he got vitals then the offer. :] but I’m sure they leave a message.

@convig & mahavir, you guys beat me out. mine didn’t come until 9:50am, Pacific Time ;)

interesting. everybody besides poss is still waiting on news, good or bad right?

No reports on twitter of anybody getting notified yet either. They must really like poss!

gia, just to clarify it seems that poss received a VITALS email then the phone call was how they were notified. both were not about acceptance.

as for flames, poss has been around for a month or two here, I think they’re legit.

Also remember, we’re only a couple of the possible 1,000+ who applied

kitten is right, but in past years the CC crowd has usually had a surprisingly high number of admits for what could be construed as a relatively random sample. (if we’re counting response bias then it makes sense that all the over-achievers with a real chance would be concerned enough to partake in the posting haha).

stupid stats class is all up in my head.

gia, that looks about right. Remember, an interview is NOT a must to be accepted. Plenty of departments choose not to interview their applicants. We know this from the WH internship office and past classes.

Poss, I know personal acquaintances who have received rejection letters. Plus there were 2 reported cases on here!

Gia, why would you have some preconceived idea of whether an email or phone call would be used, and which one would come first? I can’t see why one makes sense over the other at all. Just what is convenient (or their policy) for notification. For crying out loud, these are people who hire without an interview (which would be considered ridiculous in the “real” world…).

Giabella, I appreciate your honesty. I also think that it sounds a bit off - especially the more recent post in regards to rejections… why would you care if you have been accepted??? If Possintern has been accepted then I say congratulations. I really do hope that he/she was accepted and that we all have not been misled.

I also want to add that just because you don’t agree with Giabella’s opinion doesn’t mean that we should attack her… We are all entitled to our own opinions, there’s no need to gang up on her. It goes both ways though.

And needless to say, the majority of us are still waiting… Let’s hope we hear some news tomorrow. No news is better than bad news.

How can we ever expect people to feel comfortable posting their acceptances if certain other CC members are just going to lambaste them and question their legitimacy? We can’t say to people on the one hand: “post whether or not you get accepted” and then turn around and say “well we don’t trust you and you’re probably a flame.” We need to create an environment built on trust where people feel like they can share their experiences without being questioned. What advantages do they gain by lying anyways? It’s an anonymous blog. It’s not like they get a ton of recognition. And agreeing with googleguy here, why would Possintern have asked about housing unless they seriously had secured the internship? I think what really should be asked here is not if people like Possintern are who they really say they are but why other people are joining this blog only to question everyone else? If you’re not going to believe anything anybody posts, why are you here?
