White House Internship

Speculation is getting old… hopefully and probably tomorrow we’ll all know

yup. I’d love to say that the wait has been fun but hey…I’d be lying. Thank you all for making it slightly more bearable.

Congrats DeeSee. Best of luck to everyone.

good to know. congrats

If somebody gave me a penny for each time I refreshed my email, America’s debt would be cleaned off lol.

Add a penny for refreshes on this thread, and we would have a large surplus :)

haha @liberal. My day has been super busy. I plan on doing the same thing I’ve done the past couple of days. check my email up until 12 and then when I get home from my busy day check it again haha. That’s the only way I’ve kept my sanity in this entire process!!!

Celebrate the life of those who survived and hope the best for families and friends effected by the tsunami :)

I heard a reporter on public radio today in Tokyo (an American from the sound of her voice). Talking about what had been happening in the city. Then halfway through they switched to the subject of her family, and her son is studying at a high school right near the epicenter of the quake and they had not been able to get any news of him. I was amazed at how professional she was and calmly she was able to report… I would have fallen apart, I’m sure.

“I think when I get to work as an intern that I will work diligently to alleviate the suffering of the Japanese.”

Who would say that? No accepted intern would actually believe that he/she has the power to control what his/her work was. And if deesee does know that he/she doesn’t have the power, that’s a hugely condescending statement that makes me question whether or not it’s a flame or some being a jackass.

hey, hey a little idealism never killed anyone. it’s a stressful day, let’s be cool eh?

I kind of agree with the aforementioned statement upon reviewing that I thought the same thing. But who knows really all we can really do is concern ourselves with our own apps and if they were accepted they were accepted and if not…they weren’t so it’s only a matter of time before we all know our own status.

@ wh… thought the same thing. but anyways…

Idealism didn’t kill anyone, but sitting for hours twiddling your thumbs while waiting for your email to refresh will kill you from boredom and stress. It’s not like your life trajectory will be set if you get a White House internship. Everyone needs to chill out.

Also, all you people who didn’t get vitals emails and still think you’re in the running, 99% chance you aren’t. Start making other plans and taking deep breaths in advance so you won’t start crying when you get the rejection email.

Sorry for being blunt. A lot of the people on this thread needed a reality check.

Agree with Intern101… but I find it odd that no other posts relate to any word today either way… so I wonder about someone saying they are accepted ? and no other posts either way.

Sigh. And this board has been so civil for the past few days… can we please just stick to acceptances/rejections/polite conversation? Seems to me that anyone who can’t be polite on a message board like this would be pretty awful to share an internship office with… If you think someone is a ■■■■■, just ignore them. A flame war will just get you both kicked off (happened a few days ago on this very thread).

deesee, one more thing. If you got accepted, congratulations! You probably deserved it. And if you didn’t, but are, I don’t know, Howard Dean’s granddaugther, congrats again, because you can milk that for all it’s worth and you have a future in front of you!

I don’t want to deride your accomplishment if it was legitimate, but it seems odd circumstantially. Want to post your email to prove it?

Theoretically, you’re right. But in practice, every additional piece of communication you have is one step beyond those who haven’t received it.

They wouldn’t send the vitals email if they didn’t have a reason for asking for the information. If they didn’t ask for your vitals, they clearly don’t want you as much as they want those who received the vitals email.

(Yeah, I am being blunt. Sorry.)

im assuming this is another gia? everyone just stop this is dumb

Folks, there has been a lot of aggression on this board, and a LOT more ppl are reading it than those posting.

Let’s keep it civil. This same fight happened a few days ago. For the sanity of all of us, let’s keep it together here.

We are all so close! Congrats to Deesee and best of luck to the rest of us who are waiting.
