sigh. another week. here we go…

this is getting really annoying. i’m sure the fall deadline is going to get extended past the 13th as they’re done the past few semesters…

wouldn’t it be awful if all the people who are accepted have already been notified, and they’re just delaying rejection emails? that would be a big joke on us, because all of us who haven’t heard anything, myself included, would just be foolishly posting when everything was decided and we’re just publicly humiliating ourselves.

You wouldn’t really be publicly humiliated, since we don’t know who you are
I am not worried, I think they really are just delayed. Honestly, this is not at the top of the priority list…

It should be on the top of the white house internship office’s list… I bet we hear tomorrow. We have too…

Yes, it should be at the top of the internship office’s list (and probably is). But they can only respond once the individual departments have made their choices, and I bet it is not at the top of, oh, say, the Chief of Staff’s list. My guess is they are waiting on the decisions from those areas.

This is the week! Gut feeling haha. Whatever the outcome…thanks for making this wait a lot more bearable everyone, well appreciated.

I agree!I have a gut feeling as well LOL! I also want to thank everyone on here, this process would be so much harder without you

today’s the day. i hope.

I hate to be condescending, but all of you who are talking about how we are going to find out today or this week have clearly not read the early posts in this forum. From what I gather the trend has been to hear no sooner than two months before the start date, and often only a month away from it. This means we have some wating to do. Posting incessantly on here will not speed up the White House process, and while I agree that the wait is frusterating it is a lot better if you have done your reading and are realistic about the timeframe. Just for what its worth.

My situation: first time applicatant, recieved vitals email, no interview, recieved still processing email.

At this point I consider myself out of the running unless I get an interview this week, as no interview = 99.9% of the time no internship.

Good luck to all anyway!

Hi everyone,

I called the internship office today. Two useful facts:

1.) I was told that “there are certainly a lot of applicants who have not heard back yet” and that we should “keep looking out for emails”. But not to “put all your eggs in one basket”

2.) If any of you re-submitted your application for the fall (by yesterday) this definitely did NOT knock you out of running for the summer.

If it helps, I received a vitals, interview and still-processing email and still have not heard back.

All in all, no need to waste thread space on speculation. There are no set rules for how the process is timed. If you get a vitals, good. If you also get an interview, better. After that, nothing is certain.

Best to all.

Thanks for the heads up!

It’s really interesting that they didn’t extend the fall deadline past March 13. For at least the past 4 intern classes (I haven’t gone back further than that) they extended the deadline. Maybe they received more apps than they expected?

Probably… ^. Most internships have been receiving a higher amount of applications than usual. Hopefully we hear back soon. I’m assuming that a security clearance will also be required, and thus will require time before the beginning of the internship.

@sc3667: The security clearance/drug test is done within the first week of the internship.

If you haven’t been following the news, Obama closed down the WH Office of Political Affairs in anticipation of his reelection bid. I’m wondering what they’ll do with all of the intern applicants…

also, energy and health reform offices have been dissolved and moved under DPC.

I also got a vitals form, interview, and “still processing” email.

I was also reading a book on DC Internships, and it said it was not unusual not to hear back for the White House Summer until April. I guess all we can do is wait. Good luck to all!

that’s interesting, @poignant. have there been any confirmed acceptances (for legit people, not ■■■■■■)?

A friend of mine received a conditional acceptance email yesterday…this friend got a vitals email and a phone interview (she had her interview pretty early in the process) along with the still processing email…I am still waiting to hear as you all are (I had a vitals, interview, and processing email as well…and i’m not a “■■■■■,” I promise)

good luck to everyone!

Assuming this is legit… what do you mean by a “conditional” acceptance email? Conditional on what?
