I must say it is an indicator of the progress that we have made as a society that the descendants of the group that use to dominate this country are now reduced to seeking consolation and fellowship in sorry threads like this one. You've made my day, BCgoUSC.

We're not reduced to anything. I'm proud of being white. Do you have a problem with that? Its really quite simple - white students are treated differently from others in the college admission process. As such, it makes total sense for us to discuss our situation. If this thread is so sorry, why waste your time posting?

Of course, we have the typical ignorant post - anything with the word white in it must be racist. RBase07. why are you posting here? Clearly you don't like what you're reading - just ignore this thread.

I have nothing else to say. I'm clearly not getting through to this bunch, so I'll just follow your advice: I'm not saying anything else. I'm unwilling to fight this battle. Somebody else can take over if they choose. But I'm clearly wasting my time explaining why this thread is useless, pointless, and goes out of it's way to exclude the minorities on CC.

That's "its" possessive with no apostrophe, dear.

The OP wasn't making racist comments, nor excluding minorities any more than the "black/indian/latino students unite!!!11one' threads exclude the majority -- or other minorities, for that matter. It was an unnecessary thread, but in no way can you argue that the premise behind it was racist.

People need to chill out, take a deep breath, and pull the sticks out of their asses.

It's not excluding minorities anymore than the minority ones exclude Caucasians...There's no law saying minorities cannot come on this topic. This is just the same as the African American, Indian, etc. pages that have been made. This topic presents just as much use as the others, so please, do not waste your time saying it's useless...Why don't you go fight your crusade in one of the other topics? This is just like scholarships...They can be offered for African Americans, Native Americans, Indians, etc., but if one were exclusively awarded to Caucasians, people would argue that it was racist. There is no difference.

mcz, good point about the scholarships. No one can argue that a Caucasian scholarship would NOT cause outcries of racism. Crazy what this world is coming to.

Actually there is a difference: for tens of decades there have been scholarships that were awarded only to white students; blacks were forbidden from learning how to read or write, let alone being allowed the opportunity to attend school, let alone being offered SCHOLARSHIPS! Just a few years ago colleges like Princeton and Harvard were considered "old boys clubs" and only white men were allowed through their Ivy gates... Today, if a few thousand dollars are donated to fund the education of a Hispanic, Native American or Vietnamese student, should we really be making an issue out of it?

This thread is the equivalent of a trying to have an "American Forum" here on CollegeConfidential...just because there happens to be one for "Internationals". If it floats your boat.
