I received this email yesterday at around 5:30:

"Please forgive this informal email, but I seek to provide a timely update regarding your Whitinger Scholar application. As Director of the Whitinger Scholars Program, I regret to report that the Whitinger Scholars Committee did not select you for a Whitinger Scholarship.

However, I write to inform you that the Whitinger Committee recommended you for another Honors College scholarship award. I was hopeful that these additional decisions could be made by February 28 so that I could combine a scholarship offer with my report from the Whitinger Committee, but I am still awaiting final word regarding these additional funds. I sincerely hope that I’ll have a proper letter prepared and emailed to you by March 9.

Thank you for your continued interest in Ball State University and its Honors College."

Like it says, this email was very informal and came directly from the person, instead of from a generic BSU email address. I don’t know how many people would have received an email of this nature. However, based on this, I think everyone will know something by March 9.

Son received the same and a separate email in response to one he sent. The separate one stated there will be two waves of scholarships awarded, one in mid-March and one at the end. Good luck everyone! Looks like all our kids are among the 90 disappointed ones.
