Well, not all the news had been good news, but I have to say Whitman’s deny letter is one of the nicer ones I’ve seen. Very much in keeping with the vibe we got when S2 visited last year.

Congrats to all the acceptances - this is a very fine school!

I was accepted yesterday. I’m just curious- how many people received offers of merit aid? I received an offer… I just didn’t know what the max was that Whitman offered. Whitman is still a very expensive proposition for me, and I unfortunately did not qualify for need-based aid.

Stats:
2200 SAT
Ranked 1 in class of ~550
4.0 GPA
3 trips to National Science Olympiad; gold medal winner
Editor in chief of school paper
Honor Society

I received merit aid… 2360 SAT, 35 ACT, 3.5 GPA (just outside of top 10%, sadly)…

I still haven’t gotten a decision yet…do they usually go into April?

I still haven’t gone mine either… although I am in New Hampshire. Hmm…?

My D was accepted, and received her letter on Tuesday, March 30. 31 ACT, 96+ unweighted GPA, very strong ECs, significant merit aid. She has narrowed her choices to three (from eleven), and Whitman is very much still on the list. She can’t make accepted student day, but is doing an overnight earlier that week.

Not to be the Grammer Lady, or even the Math Mom, but for heaven’s sake it’s MEDIAN, not MEDIUM…

Good grief! My 6th graders know the difference or get an earful…

@dragonmom: Do your 6th graders know how to spell “grammar” correctly?

Is it my imagination, or are the scores higher this year than before by about 30 points?

Yes, goldenannie, my fingers did me wrong…
grammar, grammar, grammar… wow, thanks for bringing me back down to earth!

Bogney… those scores are higher than last year’s entering class, but note that these are the SAT’s and scores of “admitted students”. The median will drop as some of the more elite admits opt for Harvard and Stanford!
