yesssss that makes me so happy

Awww...those buildings look so sad! But I guess they deserved it.

more butler demolition photos:

Butler was so ugly anyway...

wilson is now the new butler.

(of course, in my mind, it always has been: compared to butler, it is older, was designed by far less distinguished architects, and has far less reference to and respect for princeton's traditional way of laying out and massing its dormitory buildings. hopefully it meets the same fate.)

May every university be as fortunate as princeton to be able to destroy the great mistakes of the 20th century. As fascism and communism were swept into the dustbin of history, so must go nihilistic architectural modernism.

Well said :)

thanks i had to get my princeton friend to write it for me. we penn folk are still working on getting that 'alphabet' thing down ;)

I heard Butler was butt ugly.

I do hope they tear down the old Wilson Quad, a.k.a the New Quad. Even the alumni who were the first members of Wilson College back in the early '60s say that they didn't like the buildings, and there was a big controversy about them along with Robertson Hall (Woodrow Wilson School) and the Architecture School building.

The plans for New Butler Quad look great. It will really maintain the rising modern look of the lower campus near the playing fields. Frankly I really like the way Carl Icahn lab, Scully and Bloomberg look together.

As for the new Sciences Library, my opinion is yet to be determined. I just wish they would progress faster than they are at current.
