Who actually wants to go to UCSB?

UCSB is actually mt first choice to transfer to...just wondering if it's anyone else's too?

May I ask why?

UCSB was my first choice…

…until Allfieldsarereq killed my dreams!!!

Its top 3. I actually got a all from admissions last week about my application. Very positive convo so I’m anxcious for decisions.

I do. It has a great program from my career goals (CPA/Accounting).

@ lawlking

I hope you’re trolling ={

SB was my 1st choice but Allfield made me re-consider

AllFieldsAreReq= apparent dream killer

hmm…
I’m not sure how I feel about this

Probably one of my last choices… seeing how it really doesnt have much in the ways of a Political Science department. Doesn’t mean I wont consider it!

You guys are funny.

I’m at UCSC right now and I’m just not liking it very much…Santa Barbara has a nice campus and a good program for my major.

Best bang for your buck within the UC’s…next to UCLA of course. SB has a 46ish% acceptance rate and they are ranked the # 10 public school in the nation. UCLA has a 22ish% acceptance rate and are ranked as the # 2 public school in the nation :slight_smile: glad i got into one ( not a transfer student)

@AllFieldsAreReq What do you have against UCSB??? I don’t get it

omg at first I took “allfieldsrequired” as something being all prereqs are required to gain admission to SB, even if they are not offered at your own school =__= and I was like THE TAP COUNSELOR TRICKED ME ;O;

anyway, UCSB is my 2nd choice (:

… only cos… OTL it was the only school other than CAL where I could fulfill enough of the prereqs for English.

But other than that, my best friend a few other good friends go there :smiley: so I have a place to stay~~

UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCI AND UCD are all considered “Public Ivy’s”. I think ur good if you go to any of them

What do I have against UCSB?
Nothing. Go for it.

But I do go here and all I have done is try to throw my two cents in, telling the other side. I have also said good things about the school though.
I have made it clear that although my experience has not been ideal, to each is own. People DO like it here. I don’t. Maybe you will? I don’t know.

All I tried to do was tell people what I wish someone would’ve told me. No school is perfect. When I hear people go on and on about the beach and how gorgeous everything and everyone is…I don’t know, it feels weird. 'Cause like I said…I live here and I know firsthand what it is like. I have knowledge that you won’t get from an hour campus tour or a quick browse through Google images.

Sigh
But I will stop now, I guess.

For the record I never said don’t apply to UCSB. Also, all the experiences I mentioned are true and actually happened to me. I also have some good experiences. It’s not really black and white.

Im at UCSB and trying to transfer out. The student body is wholly inept intellectually, and nobody will ever take you seriously when you say you go to UCSB, as they will always reply “Oh, huge party school huh?”

That sort of disrespect gets really old fast. Go to a different UC. UCI and Davis are totally better. At least people take those schools seriously

oh come on. “wholly inept intellectually”? thats a blanket statement if i’ve ever heard one. You guys are just pessimists.

Also, I’d choose UCSB over Irvine or Davis because Irvine is a horrifically conservative suburb with no life or culture whatsoever. Davis is just a cow town.

OMG! Thank you!

I knew there was someone else on this bored like myself trying to transfer out. I was starting to feel alone and like there was no one else to back me up.

I agree. YES YES YES YES YES
It is very disheartening at first and then it just becomes annoying and disrespectful! It’s like, why even try if people will just assume I was wild and ditzy.

Like I said, go wherever you guys want. I never said don’t apply. However, I personally agree with this as well. I am praying for UCI. I’d rather be thought of as a boring, competitive, dead kid that whines all the time about not getting into UCLA.

I mean, seriously, what is so bad about this? Even if it is not true, I’d rather people assume I care too much than not at all…

Also, we’re not pessimists. We are students that don’t like where we are. Therefore, instead of complaining, we actually tried to do something about it and transfer out.
That is why we are here, on a transfer forum. We ask questions and give information.

This has just been my experience. If people don’t agree, that’s fine. At the same time I do not see the harm in giving my thoughts and experiences.
Obviously I can’t say what every UCSB student is like or how you will personally enjoy the school.

Um, blanket statement?
Does anyone else see the irony that this followed this:

I applied, don’t think I’d actually go though.
Can I hear more of the reasons to avoid it? (sorry to those who don’t wanna hear it)
