Who are the Yale EAers?

what date are decisions released? Dec. 14 5pm EST or Dec. 15 5pm EST ??

dec. 15 5pm

I have a final for a college class I am taking, I actually emailed my professor, and told him that I wouldn't be at my best that day, so it would preferable that I take the final on a later date. Haha.

Wow, you guys are really intense about the whole Yale decisions thing!! I mean, I'm excited and stuff as well but I don't feel like my soul and heart is attached to next Friday like some of you. Hmm, personally I'm grateful that I will probably end up at somewhere great no matter what come April 1st. My counselor put it best when she said, "Look, chances are that you will get a bunch of rejections; I mean you're applying to the most selective schools in the country, but you gotta understand that in the end you are going to be accepted to some of these places, and at that point, the tables turn and you become the decision maker instead of the colleges, so the final verdict falls in your hands and you control your destiny." Stress doesn't suit me well anyway...;)

heh the foundation of my life since 3rd grade has been stress.

I'm glad it's 5pm. I wasn't sure about the exact time, when I last checked it said "in the evening"... 5pm EST means 11pm for me which is cool because that means I wont have to stay up all night, although whatever the answer is, I probably will...

but be sure to check around 9-10pm ur time.. they might be posted a little early

Don't worry, I'll be checking it very regularly very early on! The jet lag's actually working pretty good for me. At least, I'm sure I'll be home at 11pm. 5pm seems a little early for you guys isn't it? If you live on the west coast, aren't you still at school at that time?
By the way, doesn't their server get jammed or something with everybody checking at the same time?

yeah, i'm worried about the server thing too. since i have to go to work at 4 pm (6 pm eastern), i really really hope i can access my decision before that!

Do you know if the decisions are usually posted on time or not? They say 5pm, but do they really respect that timeline?

They don't say 5pm... as far as I know they say "sometime the evening of 12/15" but people are using precedent from previous years to estimate (correct me if I'm wrong.) So really it could be any time that afternoon.

Hi everyone
i've been a lurker and finally decided to post...i cannot wait until friday
evelyne i am actually going to paris on the 22nd ahh i need to do some major shopping..do you know of any good places?

the shops near the opera house are awesome

I love how all the lurkers are coming out of the woodwork... Usually they wait until after decisions b/c they like to post their acceptances... That'll probably still happen though.

agreed, and then they're not gonna post ever again.

haha yeah...i don't know why i felt compelled to post...i guess i need the emotional support...i'm beginning to fall apart

:[ it's okay... 5 more days... i'm usually the person that wakes up at 4 in the morning to check my sat scores, but i'm gonna try to wait it off and compose myself before i check.. :/ good luck everyone!!!!

I'm usually the person that stays up all night to check their SAT scores (four times, once for a friend). Or stays up all night to iSketch (only once!). Or stays up all night for no reason (multiple times). It only makes sense that I stay up all night again on Thursday!

Actually, as we get closer and closer to Friday, I'm getting less and less excited because the prospect of being deferred or rejected is so... not-exciting. And so likely. I'm starting to seriously consider waiting for the mail. After all, if they mail everything on Friday, I should get my letter on Saturday, or Monday at the latest, right? I mean the only perks of getting an online decision are that you find out sooner and the dancing bulldog if you get in. But I would NOT want to NOT get my decision earlier if it's not an acceptance, and I do NOT want to NOT see the dancing bulldog. If that makes sense. Sigh. We'll see.

Ok, so it could basically be anytime Friday evening. I didn't see anywhere on the website that it was 5 pm but everybody kept mentioning it as THE time it would get out so I just assumed I'd missed it.

whoareyew- stupak is right the shops near the Opéra are the best (Galeries Lafayettes and Printemps). They are big department stores and they have everything you could need.
potus2- I did appreciate what Borat's point was and I have to admit that there were a few interesting moments but I thought that his playing dumb all the time completely ruined it. It could have been a "beauteous decimation" of american culture as you said but he was exaggerating so much that it could've taken place anywhere else: the people's reactions would have been the same.

Oh and before I forget, I didn't know about the dancing bulldog? If you get accepted, is it the first thing you see when the page appears?

Yeah, something like that. I think the Yale fight song plays in the background.

And if you check last year's SCEA thread, the decisions began coming at 5 PM and only two people said they couldn't get to their decisions when they wanted.
