"Who Are You?" Essay Word Count

Kinda thought that the Who Are You response was the 400 word one, not the 200 word one, so my essay's around 500 words. I know I obviously need to trim it down, but how much do you think I could get away with? 300, potentially (hopefully)?

I also find it kind of ironic how they want us to speak directly about who we are, and yet give us a miniscule word limit for it.

Maybe you could use it as your Common App essay and write a new one, but it's a little late at this point.

I ended up trimming it down to 350, and my other 200-word one is 300, but I think they're both really good, so I'm not particularly worried, unless someone here strongly warns against going that far over..

well i wrote mine on coffee... really early in the morning... so mine was about 800 words and i ended up rambling and even addressing the adcom straight out in my essay... yeah, clearly something was not happening "up there". but tufts was my last (for the most part anyways) and i was anxious to be done. :(

we'll see how it goes in april, haha... your 300 words should be fine. i think ALL of mine go over the word limit by at least 100 words... i was ridiculously happy to see that they didn't cut words like the commonapp so i kinda splurged. :)

um thats 150% of what they wanted. imho thats too much. they do state that you should not take the word limits as an iron clad set of laws but definitely aim for the 250ish area. maybe you have superfluous sentences? o well, im probably too late to help seeing as im after the deadline

Eh, I'm not particularly worried.. ended up sending in one that was 300, another 330 (I believe), but they were also good (imho, at least, lol) so hopefully I'm okay.

i was pretty proud of my optional. the darn 50 worder was the hardest for me.

Eheheh.. my fifty worder was around 85 words long. >.< I've always had issues in general keeping to word limits--maybe I should've mentioned that in my Who Am I? essay, since it's definitely a reoccuring issue, lol.

My D had 2 over for one essay, 1 under for another. She was 50 on the money for the short one! She didn't get flowery or fancy ... she just answered the questions.

We'll have to wait until 4/1 to see if her strategy worked!!
