Who at CC is applying to Brown PLME?

I just sent in my ED/PLME app!

So nervous. PLME would be so perfect for me. Just hope the admission people agree. Not getting my hopes up because of how exclusive it is though. :P

foreveroptimist: Re the interview: 1) this is the most minor part of your application. Technically not even required, although if it is offered to you and you decline etc, it does tend to say you’re not very interested.
2) Interviewers are regional alumni. Who you are assigned to is up to a regional volunteer who organizes this. It may be someone (such as me) who interviews almost only PLME applicants each year (although last year the regional chair changed and I did no PLME interviews!) Sometimes it is someone who has some medical background, or it may be someone with no connections to medicine at all. So, it is foremost a Brown interview and not specifically a PLME interview.

And no, you do not “Have to have” 200 hours of hospital volunteering. (from what I’ve seen from students picked, scientific research has a small advantage over hospital etc volunteering. This wouldn’t be my view, but I’m just a “lowly interviewer” and not on the admissions committee.)

Thank you so much! Your insights are very helpful! I hope I have the priviledge of attending Brown and hopefully PLME. Many thanks!

Hello. I am also applying ed to the PLME program.
If I apply ED only to thePLME program and not the school and get rejected, can I RD to the school later on?

JulieKim:
No, you can’t. You can’t apply twice within the same year.

the same school year. right?

Juliekim:
correct, same school year. However rejected means rejected to both PLME and regular, so if you hear that, would truly not recommend waiting a year! If you are possible for consideration to undergrad, then you may be rejected to PLME and deferred to regular pool. Then you will essentially become a regular decision undergrad candidate (who happened to get the ap done very early) and will hear your decision re the undergrad portion with the rest of those students.

I am! Good luck to all the applicants!

I definitely want to apply to the PLME program but I want to know, how does the whole application process to PLME work?

Ivydreamer:

Basically, the PLME application is a couple more essays tacked onto your Brown application. If the regular admissions committee admits you to Brown, then they’ll send your application over to the PLME admissions committee, who will review the entire thing.
