ya i feel the same. it sucks to get rejected of course but san diego state was my first choice and im in there so im happy

Just logged into the portal this afternoon and my daughter was turned down for admission as a Psych major.

She's pretty bummed, no surprise there as it was her first choice. However, I truly believe in "meant to be's" and for whatever reason, Cal Poly wasn't where she should go.

We'll give it a few days to settle in and get over ... then the decision is between SDSU or ASU, her next two top picks.

Keeping my fingers crossed for anyone else waiting!

Rejected as a transfer.

3.5 w/ my 60 Semester units and IGETC cert.

The major was Political Science.

I didn't have any ECs at all, though.

Kind of a bad start, as this is the first decision I've gotten back.

I got rejected too :( 3.5, 1190 SAT (not including writing) and for animal science.

I just got rejected for Architecture as a transfer from a CCC with 80 units. 34 of them are related to my major with all A's and one C. My overall GPA is 3.43 as I had a pretty rough start out of high school. I have an Architectural Drafting Certificate and CAD certificate and two years of work experience in Drafting. I only had 4 units of physics instead of the 8 that is required/recommended - they don't say which. I completed the IGETC. So I guess if I don't get in anywhere else I'll finish physics, take more calculus and try again next year. Best of luck to all of you. :{

Rejected for Mechanical Engineering :(

2060 SAT

790 Math
600 CR
6 AP's and like 10 Honors.

Idk my CSU gpa, but it was definitely above 3.7. Ughhh...this sucks. It was definitely one of my top schools too..

It was probably my major since many people with lower stats got in. I guess M. Eng was really competitive.

Don't feel too bad. Look forward to being accepted into the UC system!

Yeah, too bad they don't require essays, otherwise my GPA would have been "somewhat" explained, considering the military and death in the family.

Oh well...I still have plenty more schools!

Rejected.......
3.8 GPA
1970 SAT
nearly 200 hrs of community service

friends with 4.2 and 4.5 GPA's were rejected while the ones with 3.4 and 1500 on the sat were accepted

so unfair :(

^^^what major?

business administration

hmmm.ic. thats weird, you have good stats.

Ya, I'm pretty much in shock right now

Rejected. I'm swimming in a puddle of tears and disappointment. I knew my test scores were lower for arch, but I thought a 4.4gpa would help. It was great talking to all of you. Good luck at slo or wherever you end up. I think my posting for cal poly has ended. I'll be movin over to the davis postings. Aaahhhh!

this is gonna burn for a while...

It's really shocking. There aren't any essays or anything subjective to read. If they go by pure numbers then it's a wonder why the lower stats got in while people more qualified got rejected. Ahh, the mystery of college admissions.

Blasphemy.

you would think that with numbers drivin admissions that we could predict this better. My D had nothing but a-g and PE, a 3.7 something UC GPA and a 26 ACT. All of which put her above avg for animal science. She was rejected today too.

Ahh at least there are still UC decisons to agonize over.

Well, I was rejected today as well. I called up and I spoke with a admissions supervisor. She said that I was the 6th to call for Architecture. She kept assuring me that I excelled at coursework, but I could have been passed over because a lack of Work Experience. I, like many of you, have been infuriated about the situation. As far as I know it, two of my classmates got in for Architecture, both of which have a lower GPA and less extracurriculars. So, I don't know what I did wrong. I'll have to wait for Pomona and then off to England for my Masters. Hopefully, I'll show enough promise to my future clients. If I end up winning a Pritzer prize for Architecture, I will personally note that I was not accepted to my first choice for transferring. If it sounds a little sour, that's because it is. I hope everyone that has shown as much or more dedication than me get in. For those that got in with lesser stats, hope you improve on your studies. And please, for those who have been accepted, please don't drop out, halfass it, or slack. If you do, you'll be disappointing the thousands that have given their all just to be accepted to that school. Don't screw around, get your work done. Alright, if anyone wants to contact me, I'll be around, just email me or whatever. Have a good one.

well seems like monday was the day for denials, as I was one of them as well. I kinda felt I had a 50-50 chance getting in just due to a "average" GPA but was hoping for the best or some luck. Yeah I'm upset, probably not as upset as you infinity due to your stellar academics, i dont care what they say about work experience, in my opinion if you had a low GPA and no work experience i can see why you wouldn't get in, but showing them that you pretty much have a 4.0 and no work experience shows that you devoted your time into what you needed to get done, so I dont understand at all with the work experience thing. I still get to hear from UC's which i'm sure i'll hear some good news from one of them, since there more organized in these times of months and actually require you to send them your prior fall grades, which I liked. But from what people have posted on here getting accepted with not so stellar GPA's and people getting rejected with stellar GPA's will make me wonder how they do there selections at cal poly. I was glad i joined this forum to talk to everyone one of you and communicate. Built some friendships even though there over the internet but nice to see that I wasn't the only one stressing over this, glad that it's over with. I enjoyed talking to everyone of you, where I have learned a lot more than i did before joining this forum, and maybe one day we can all joke about this getting rejected from Cal Poly when were successful. As infinity did say, for those people that got in, you better not slack off, because it's unfair for you to do that for the people that did bust there butt's off to try to get in. Make us proud. If anyone wants to keep in contact with me you can email me, I also applied to davis, irvine and san diego. So if anyone applied to those schools i'd like to keep in touch with you possibly meet up if we both get in. Goodluck to everyone and i sincerely mean that, wish we heard better news than this, but gotta keep our heads up and shoulders straight and show the schools were still being evaluated at that we can do it. See ya later.

Tenh20- Im so shocked, your stats were awesome.. wow.. If it makes you feel any better, I drove by Davis the other day and was really impressed. Personally I though it was just as nice as San Luis Obispo.

Infinitywolf and Ji.rvin- Dont feel bad, Cal Poly is notorious for not admitting qualified transfer students.. Especially into Architecture.

Thanks Oop...that's really nice of you. I wish you the best of luck. I guess I'll be trading one kind of horse(mustang) for another(aggie:)) Davis is pretty similar to SLO, a real college town, just what I want. I also want a life beyond san diego. The next year will be an adventure, to say the least. Make the best of it:)
