Well they don't allow you to put anything on the application that would otherwise benefit you say in the real world on a resume like Eagle Scout or ass. captain of vball team all things that show commitment, dedication, community involvement, leadership, time management and so forth that potential employers would rank highly. No one asks you what was your GPA in college when you interview because its is not as important the other things I mentioned for example. I know I sound bitter(I am) but your truly just a number to them. Reminds me of the movie Gattaca. Admissions rep told me around 400 transfers applied to the arch and only 34 got in which some of those 34 most likely got into Pomona, ect. as well so only around 20-25 will actually enroll. They also told me they are the only ones with that type of admissions review program(go figure). I had all my required courses besides calculus but I completed precalc with 90+ units.

Bravo - They do send you a hard copy as well. Or least they did 2 or so years ago when I got turned down.

a few ppl i know got waitlisted. their GPA's were around 3.6+ and had 2000+ SATs. lots of EC's too. i think Cal Poly is inconsistent w/ their admissions since ppl w/ hardly any ECs and lower GPAs were accepted.

did anyone get in for environmental management yet?

Hurrah! I got rejected this wednesday. Got into better university though.

Wait Listed =/

SYNCHROTRON......the thing I don't understand is how are you able to get into Cal Tech and not into Cal Poly? haha, not saying I don't believe since i saw you post on the UC page, about how you're going to miss a class and all and that you got into cal tech, so that I can understand but I will never understand admissions processes at cal poly if you didn't get in.

wow, cal tech......the cal poly system is messed up.

hmmmm....Tuft's Syndrome?

I didn't apply to SLO, but I know about 10 people that did, and of the 10, 6 were rejected and 4 accepted. Our school counselors told us that SLO was harder to get into this year, especially for out of state students. For those of you that were accepted, congrats, and those that were denied, there's always the transfer option. But of my 6 friends denied, one had a 2100 SAT and a 4.3 GPA, so I have no idea how Cal Poly chooses their acceptances. That's too bad about there not being an appeal option..And thanks for sharing about that, Infinity. Even if there isn't that option, it was nice for you to bring it up.

i was waitlisted a few weeks ago for kinesiology. im a transfer student with a 3.67 gpa. today i sent admissions an email saying that cpslo is my number one choice, i hope it works : /

best of luck mwhip!

My son did not get admitted. It was posted on the web portal last week, first week in march '09. He applied to Food Science. It was a stretch. ACT science 29, but GPA 3.4. Lots of extras and work experience and great teacher recommendations, but they don't want any of those details. It's too bad, what a great school! He might go to Cuesta College down the road.

thanks historymomma!

"My son did not get admitted. It was posted on the web portal last week, first week in march '09. He applied to Food Science."

Did your son apply to Food Science because he wanted it as his major, or because he thought it would be an easy way into Cal Poly?

A lot of people were not accepted into Cal Poly, not because they didn't deserve to get in, but because they applied too late. I applied on Oct. 27, 2008 and did not get in. I also know someone last year who applied to Cal Poly and did not get in, but was accepted by Harvard, Yale, and Stanford. Their admission decisions seem not to be based on the merit of the individual, but if they applied at the beginning of the admission period. A lot of the time when you don't get in, it's not because of you! It's just because they ran out of spots.

^^^So you're saying if I apply Oct 1st, I have a better chance of getting in?

I applied the last day available and got accepted, so I don't buy it.

I applied the last day available and got accepted, so I don't buy it.

Yeah...I applied in the last week and got in.

ksp791, I’d figure all UC’s and CSU’s put aside a certain number of out-of-state students to admit. Out-of-staters pay more and, therefore, help the school’s bottom line more so than someone from in-state.
