Who do I contact for grade issues?

no im a senior... but if ive already taken the required 3 years of math... i should be good right??

No, you're not exempt just because you've taken 3 years of required math. Most people that go to good schools (such as UCSD) have finished the A-G requirements in grades 9-11 already, so using your logic, barely anyone would ever get rescinded. Schools rescind you because they see that you slacked off senior year; let the letter-writing to the admissions office begin.

so phone call is not good enough?

My counselor always told us that you want to tell them before they find out, so I guess a phone call is okay as well?

Here's the official statement about your senior grades, taken from http://www.ucsd.edu/catalog/0506/front/UgrdPol.html:

Offers of admission will be rescinded if: a) there are discrepancies between your official transcripts and your self-reported academic record; b) you do not complete the courses listed as “in progress” or “planned”; or c) you do not complete your twelfth-grade courses at the same academic level as in previous course work.

umm... 1st semester of senior year... i decided to skip AB calc and go straight to ap calc BC.. and i got a C... but then i wanted a better grade.. so i talked to the teacher and he told me to go transfer down to ap calc AB...

does that count as "not finishing the planned courses or courses in progress" thing???

Unforuntately yes... but I don't think it'd affect your admissions, however your D might.

Thanks vupreuss06 for your help. I think I'll call them first, then ask them if I should mail my reasoning as well. I'll update you guys on this tomorrow night.

oh.. well thanx so much for ur help! and yeah im going to my school tomorrow to see if there is ANYYYYTHING that can be done to somehow not get a D+.. and im going to call ucsd and find out some more info and ill let everyone know too..

one mmore question..... sorry... but how long should the letter be??

My advice is not to 'fluff' it up with too much of a sob-story.

If you think about it, they must get countless amounts of letters around this time of year with similar situations, so get to the point and try to be direct.

not too long. a page double spaced should be good. be concise and don't write too many excuses. just tell them honestly what happened and how you feel about this. and yeah...

thank you... i cant wait to talk to ucsd tomorrow... i really hope i hear SOME good news...

Okay I have like a 3.6 gpa 1st semester and then 3 more C's 2nd semester and my gpa is now a 2.6 but I have NO D's......will I be revoked ?

I've sent my letter already. Let's all update each other with new information if necessary. Are you guys calling as well? is it useful? 0.o I've called before and my response is usually not really informative. They just tell me to write a letter every time...

i was reading around somewhere and i heard that this guy failed ap calc his senior year... and he thought he would be rejected from ucsd... so they told him to write his letter... but he never did... and he still got in.

so um... i dunno how strict ucsd is on these things.... im hoping they arent that strict...

mrxalleycat... no u probably wont be revoked if u have no D's...

My friend who's going to UCLA got a d in psychology back in first semester and was told by the UCLA admission officer that her admission would not be rescinded as long as her cumulative senior gpa did not drop below a 3.0.

i've called them, they told me that you should write a letter to ucsd admissions office (the same address you sent your official transcript). They told me it is a possibility that I'd get rescinded but they said write a letter. so good luck everyone!
