On certain applications such as job applications that require references, who do you usually put down as your references. Do most of you ask them first, and how often do they say no?

How many do your applications usually ask for?
mine three.

What do you do when they ask for professional/business/work/school references and you've never had a job before, and your volunteer stuff is already listed elsewhere?
Things like piano teacher, chinese teacher...they would also work since that's almost school right?

I put down three...and was in your position exactly. I'd never worked anywhere except for my dad. I put people I knew from temple. A teacher that loved oyu would work. And if you can'td come up with three, just explain it. I'm sure they're used to it. My employer didnt' even check my references.

I asked all three, but it's really jsut a formality; no one is going to say no unless you did something like kick their puppy- and you'd remember that.

Yeah, someone like a teacher or guidance counselor is good. If you had a specific supervisor at your volunteer work, they're good too. Any non-related adult is okay. I put down the mom of one of my friends who works at the place I applied.
