Who doesn't plan on going to Prom?

Random question about Prom and dances in general. Why do most girls get a different dress for each dance? As a guy, I honestly wouldn’t care if I saw a girl wear the same dress or two dresses to every single dance/event. In fact, I probably wouldn’t even notice. And after you buy a dress, what do you do with it if you’re not gonna wear it anymore? Or do you just rent a dress, if that’s possible?

Thanks, just wondering! I wear the same ol’ shirt and pants and tie and no one makes a fuss about it

Haha most guys wear the same exact thing, and girls wear all these fancy colors and patterns and fabricated patterns, and they don’t want to be seen wearing the same thing as another girl, and girls care more about what they’re wearing (usually), so they think they will be seen as disgusting/gross/a loser/ugly, if they wear the same thing.

^^^^i would go with a black kid. in fact, my friend asked our friend [who moved to another school a few years ago] to our junior prom last year & he is black. i don’t see what the big deal is unless u happen not to be a nice guy. plus, u can always just try to think about which girl would be desperate enough for a date & ask her ; )

“As a guy, I honestly wouldn’t care if I saw a girl wear the same dress or two dresses to every single dance/event.”
oh, god, we would never. & this is coming from a more low-maintenance girl.

“And after you buy a dress, what do you do with it if you’re not gonna wear it anymore?”
if it’s like a prom dress that’s of a very specific material, there would be no where else TO where it to. like a wedding dress ; ] if it’s more of a party dress, like for homecoming, then it’s acceptable to wear it to other parties in the distant futures.

haha, i like matt’s answer : D that’s a lot of it, too. see, for us girls, each look tells a story. for homecoming, it’s more, ‘this is my hot, little-effort-put-in-to party look’. for prom, it’s usually, ‘this is my glamed-out gorgeous look’. plus, u want to do your hair/make-up/shoes differently for every occasion, which calls for a different dress. hope this helps : ]
