I don't. Never looked at/made a note card in my life. I just like to catch it in class and then recapitulate it during homework... I'll cram over definitions before a test, sure, but I never set aside time for a subject that isn't pressing. I find that I learn things better by discussing/debating them in class. And flipping through note cards and studying just seems... anti-me.

Anyone else feel this way?

I'm not trying to come across as pretentious "I don't have to study!" or anything. Just wondering who else can associate with this...

Never use note cards. I study for math by doing stuff over again. If I study it's rereading material I guess. But I have to work for it, esp. in calc.

i got these group of people in my English class who LOVE to discuss with our teacher about the subject and everything. And the teacher only focuses on them. I hate them. They make English boring. But i'm not saying I hate you. I just hate those people in my english class haha :)

I do the homework, but rarely do much more than that for a specific class. However, History might prove tricky next year, and I may have to study...

I've never studied, but I'm also not a big fan of homework. Unfortunately, high school takes a lot of consideration into doing homework when figuring out grades.
If you look at my standardized test grades compared to my regular school grades, it's pretty obvious that I don't study or anything. All 4s and 5s on the AP Test, but failed AP Bio (mentioned this in another thread a few months back, people told me to take summer school courses, but then I got a 4 on the AP Test) and got a C in AP Lit but a 5 on the test (last year got a 5 on AP Language and 4 on US History and B-s in those classes). Ranked ~60th of 277 in my class, but had one of the highest SAT scores and a perfect score on MCAS (Massachusetts standardized test). Even on regular tests in school, I'd do well on them, but when homework is like 20% of your grade, and you complete 2 of 20 assignments, it doesn't help.
I just don't feel it's worth it to study, if you don't know it by the time the test comes around, you're not going to.

Some subjects I have to study for because the teachers basically asked for a regurgitation of notes (i.e. Honors Biology where our teacher basically typed out our notes and replaced words with blanks). I usually memorized my notes the night before the test and was fine. Concept classes like Chem and Math and English - I never study for.

I don't study, neither...I don't really have to the time to sit down for a long period of time. I have never studied from noecards. I get good grades if i do the workenough times...I also cram on some things I know I will never need to know ever again..

Science - I didn't study for physics this year because there was no hope for getting an A and I couldn't stand the teacher. For bio freshman year I studied all day and most of the night before the test. I studied for my chem course last summer in the hour long car ride there and ended up doing exceptionally well (I have a good short term memory).

History - Usually the day of the test - especially during lunch - with tips from people who take it before me.

French - The first five minutes of class.

LA - Freshman year we were tested on 15 vocab words at a time, so I studied in the hallway on the way to class. For book tests and essays, I read sparknotes the day before. Sophomore year we were tested on all vocab words up to the unit we just did, so I had to study the night before just to make sure I didn't forget anything. I actually read the books more often this past year, so I didn't need as much sparknotes.

i study like a mother****er for everything cuz i go to a hardass school where unless ur super super super brilliant, ur ass is grass if u don't study

haha I barely study and I go to a really tough magnet school; the only class I spent any intense studying on last year was chemistry Pre-AP and that's because his tests were a *itch!

Never did until I got to AP classes. Half of our test material was based on stuff not covered in class, strictly from the reading. The reading was assigned though, so I guess it's not really extra studying?

eh hem....if anyone has mastered a strategy for studying math...please tell me what the hell your doing....algebra II is not going to be very fun this year!

i never study...i just listen in class, and think about what the teacher says, especially in math...what could happen, why this can be proved...which helps me remember and understand everything. i dont do hw either which is bad...

for studying math, BMWicked318is, learn it form a theoretical point of view, especially algebra...maybe that will help

The only effective way for me to study math (and I need to) is to practice the homework problems. Again. And again. Of course, I don't have the patience for that lol but I do try and go over the homework.

I also ask a TON of questions during class. If you don't get something (esp. in math), speak up right away! Otherwise you're just going to be lost, and math builds on concepts so if you don't get something you could be screwed for the next three chapters.
