I'm just wondering what percentage of people not accepted by Wharton ED is deferred to regular?

Also, if I'm now in regular, does it also mean I shouldn't bear any hope since I couldn't even get in through ED.

I am not sure about Wharton, but for the special programs (Huntsman, M&T) deferring is no big deal since they want the strongest class available and would often defer people in order to take a overall survey of the applications for the year and pick the best.

I'm deferred ;__; my focus is on Smith now.

I also got deferred from Wharton.

Like frankchn, i believe that those deferred are somewhat on the borderline. They want to fill the exclusive spots with the best students, so they want to give RDers an equal chance to do so.

I wish I knew the stats for Wharton.

Yeah, I was deferred from Wharton too. My best friend who did ED to Wharton was deferred, too.

Seems like a lot of deferrals, or are there this many every year?

also deferred from wharton

deferred Wharton

I could be the only one not accpeted from my school ED

Oh well

I am deferred as well. However, I applied to Huntsman/Wharton. It did not say on my letter whether or not I am deferred from which one of them. Or I am deferred from Wharton and rejected from Huntsman.

deferred :( time to prep for NYU

cherryli1114.. yea you know i wonder the same.. deferred means deferred for both? or reject from Huntsman and deferred for Wharton

deferred.
oh well

Just curious. If you guys are accepted RD, will you still choose to attend Penn?

nah.

Anyone deferred and happy at the same time? lol

I think deferral happened to like EVERY nyc public school kid. I go to a specialized high school. I should have moved to oklahoma ARGH

My high school in Maryland has not had a Penn acceptance in 5 years, even though we get a HYPS/Mit every year. It's starting to bother me, and a friend who was also deferred theorized that it might be the local interviewer =p

Anyways, defer just means my options open up, except that I'm worried about my midyear report having a C when my GPA before was 4.0. They probably don't like senioritis..

Also want to echo cherryli1114 and august's_chopin because I applied to M&T ED..

So, does ED deferred equal a nice way of saying RD rejection?

For 90% of those who were deferred, yes.

well I mean, only 202 deferred people got accepted RD. not alot.

Unfortunately in a lot of cases, yes.

Do you think if I apply ED round 2 to Tufts, it'll be the same thing? given that I got deferred?
