Who else failed the AP Japanese test?

Is it me or was that test extremely difficult (for the non native speakers, of course)?

I think at best, I might have gotten a 3... i think.
The worst, I think, a 2.
Meanwhile, the one person who spoke Japanese is done with the multiple choice section 20 minutes early(after checking his answers).

[no discussing of the questions please. just the overall test difficulty.]

No replies, huh? It seems that no one cares about AP Japanese exam... :( I thought it was fair, though not entirely easy. I kind of messed up on listening & speaking. The weather question went so fast! Why'd you think it was extremely difficult?

OMG. My entire Japanese class got their asses kicked by the AP Japanese exam. After three years of study, I can officially say that I am incompetent now.

Reading comp was OK, Listening kicked my ass, Text Chat was a nightmare, and Speaking was so/so. That's my class's general consensus.

What was it like? What did it entail?

You can check out the syllabus from the college board site and their practice test. there's listening multiple choice, reading multiple choice, a simulated text chat, a simulated phone conversation, a presentation, and a story narration, as well as some 20 minute writing sessions.

The part that killed me was the speaking section... I did well on the reading, horrendously on the speaking, decently on the listening, and my writing wasn't that bad.

So maybe I exaggerated, but it was still a difficult test.

For the simulated chat things, did you need to listen/read them, or were you supposed to take part in them?

take part. like talking and writing.

Oh that's really cool. So, is the person you talk to in both cases an actual person? For the chat thing, they can use a random robot thing with predetermined messages (add smarterchild@hotmail.com, and you'll see what I mean), but I don't think they can do this with the actually talking part...

i heard from a native Japanese speaker friend that test was hard.

the listening is really fast, even for native speakers. the one native speaker in my testing room said it wasn't that bad. but he did act upset when the presentation questions came up... then spoke for the full 2 minutes.

the chat part of the exam is pretty simple. you get a prompt from a recorded speaker, and you have to speak for 20 seconds about whatever prompt you get. then there is a follow up question and you reply to that. then there are 2 more follow up questions that you answer.

the worst part, BY FAR, was the part with the 2 minute speaking presentations... i thought that was AWFUL. I couldn't get over 1 minute on either one. Partially because I gave up, but mostly because I don't know Japanese as well as I would like.
