Thought I’d throw in my two cents as a CMC freshman.

You wrote that “a lot of Pomona/Mudd students see CMC kids as d-bgs”, I don’t know if they do, but I can testify that most people here are nice people, many of whom like to party. There is an argument that there are more “*****y” people here than in the other 5Cs but they are a small minority. Lots of people are friendly and outgoing.

9:01 party XD

In my experience, I’m not pressured to get drunk and can drink as much as I want. If you wanted to though, alcohol is in ample supply.

Thanks Dropsofcolor! That was something I had heard but wasn’t really sure about. I have a friend at Pomona who said that she actually doesn’t know too many CMC students well. What’s your opinion on the amount of intermingling that goes on between the 5C’s?

Has anyone else been spending a lot more time on CC as the decision time approaches?

In terms of intermingling, most of CMC’s mingling with other schools occurs at 5C parties which happen most Saturdays or through foreign language classes at Pomona. Pomona has some FL courses that aren’t offered at other colleges and they tend to be strong in FLs with Oldenborg so you’ll probably have students from the other 5Cs if you take classes there.

I’ve heard that CMC classes are quite exclusive, as in they make it difficult for non-CMCers to enroll in them in comparison to enrollment in the other 5C classes…

Other than that though, I’d say CMCers tend to mostly have CMC friends, and my impression is that Pomanians stick to themselves. Scripps and Mudd intermingle all the time and I have no idea about Pitzer.

frisesbichon: Thanks
All: I wasn’t happy with my ED commonapp essay at the time so i didnt apply. Going to do ED2. Best luck guys!!! Hope to meet you all at CMC

okay, I thought the office of admission forgot about me. My goodness, I can’t wait to find out soon. I’m sure most of us will get in since the ED acceptance rate is higher than the regular acceptance rate. Good luck to you all!!

i’m so so so in love with the school; i really really hope that i get in. just out of curiosity, what schools do you guys have as back-ups? any that are similar to cmc?

You’re fine wlax! It’s just the rumors that have been circulating which have been validated by a call to the admissions office.

Other schools I plan on applying to: Princeton, Dartmouth, Middlebury, Rice, Stanford, UVa, VTech (VA Resident).

The only schools I would think of as somewhat similar are Middlebury and Dartmouth. Maybe Princeton but not sure about the similarities in the social atmosphere.

I also applied to Amherst College and University of Maryland-College Park. UMD is very different from CMC for sure. CMC is the only college that I applied on the west coast (I’m from the east coast).

Joker311, those colleges are great colleges and I wish you all the best! My friend got into Dartmouth and I’m sure you can too, but let’s hope we get into CMC first because that’s our first choice!

Just got home from school. Thanks wlax! One of my friends from Vancouver got into Dartmouth too so we were talking about how awesome it would be it we ended up going to college together after we haven’t seen each other in such a long time. All that being said, Claremont McKenna is still my number one!
5 hours…I don’t know what to do to kill the time and take my mind off of it
