This forum hasnt had a post in like a million years. I know I'm not the only CCer applying to Howard. Who else is out there? Who else is applying? Who has questions?

I know I do, can someone tell me about the business program? I want to know about the DC area too?

Hi,
I applied for transfer admission to Howard University over 3 years ago. Dispite having a 3.5 GPA in rigorous classes at Miami-Dade College, the admissions staff at Howard never contacted me with regards to the status of my application documents at that time. So I assumed that I was rejected as a transfer student.

I had considered Morehouse College for transfer admissions. However, my focus is towards the Harvard Extension School in Boston. Relocating to a place that I've never visited will be a strange experience. But it may just be the best decision towards my education objective, which to maximize all of the academic opportunities that the school has to offer.

Good luck with Howard University. They don't seem to like transfer students from the State of Florida very much.

I can't send my in my app online...everytime I try to pay the app fee the error message pops up to 'call the bank' and I know my credit card is good. Anybody else have these problems?

My foster daughter wants to apply to Howard. She's had a pretty sketchy educational background -- foster parents that didn't really make her go to school, attended a notoriously bad inner city high school until she moved in with me a year ago. Now she's in a much more challenging school and is taking challenging classes but her GPA is 3.0 and her SAT scores are not good -- 440 verbal, 370 math, 450 writing. She's got some interesting extracurricular activities -- docent at the California African American Museum, spokesperson for Children Uniting Nations. But are kids overcoming difficult circumstances a dime-a-dozen at Howard?

I think she has a solid chance form what I know from the reserach I've done about the acceptance rates and suff about the school. Especially with those extracarricualrs! There is no reason she shouldnt apply in my oponion just make sure she has other options, just in case.
Good Luck!

FWIW, when I was there (80's), middle class kids were a LOT more common than those overcoming difficult circumstances. Not that you can't be middle class AND overcoming difficult circumstances.

Thanks! Seems like everybody who has listed their stats in this and previous threads has had pretty impressive numbers. Good luck to you MissTycoon and to all the other applicants in this thread! Maybe you'll be classmates with my MissBB in the fall.

really, the main reason i applied was to try to get a scholarship at a pretty decent school, i dunno its been a while since i applied though maybe a decision is coming out soon?

wow that would be a super-amazing christmas present (or an absoultely horrible one..., but, umm yeah, im gonna try and stay optomistic on this one though)
