who else thinks that notecards are.......

They’re a good tool for the teacher to prevent plagiarism.

Notecards are good for memorizing large quantities of bite-sized information. Vocab for example, especially for like a new language.

I HATE THEM. THEY SHOULD DIE.

Especially when a teacher assigns the task of making them for hw. Especially when you don’t own them…

Though I accept their usefulness for public speaking/debate.

they are sooo dumb

Perhaps, except for the fact that the teacher neglected to refer to them at all after checking them for completion. But I see what you mean, it does indeed appear to have a reasonable purpose.

For information, I don’t like them. Like to organize notes and stuff, it’s pointless for me.

However, I am a Spanish minor and vocab notecards are the greatest thing ever invented to me.

Definitely tedious and rather pointless - I already lost quite a bit of points in history for refusing to complete them. Since I’ve started to notice that it’s graded based on completion rather than quality, I’m just going to randomly bs them…

So’s turnitin.com, and without the hours of useless work

They’re also a good way to get people that have never written research papers before started. And they’re free for the teacher.

EDIT: Just to be clear, I’m generally opposed to teachers forcing you to turn in parts of a larger project. I always hated mandatory rough drafts. I just don’t see notecards as any worse than other things like that. And notecards do have plenty of other purposes. I don’t think there’s anything better than flash cards for raw memorization.
