woooooo. so is anyone else like the cool one at school who is 17 and still getting dropped off by their parents? it sucks... admittedly, i go to private school so im not sure, does EVERYONE at public school have cars too?

Yep. Everyone at public school (well almost all seniors, and lots of juniors) has a car and drives to school. I, on the other hand, have access to a car, but am not allowed to drive to school! So frustrating.

...and that leaves the bus in most cases. Not fun.

I don't have my license yet. =/ and I'm going off to college this fall

driving a lexus is fun.

haha you suck! im hoping i get a car before this summer... it would be so nice!

I'm a leech. Otherwise, I bike/walk/run/scooter/rollerblade everywhere. :) I get by somehow. Sometimes I really want a car, but for the most part considering most other people have cars I just hang out with them!

I have a license but no car.

The plan is to use my mom's car during summer to work and gather up enough money for my own by the end of summer for senior year.

I really really want my own car for senior year lol.

yea i am a second semester senior at a really rich public school with no license. everyone at our school who is a senior or junior drives and i am stuck riding the bus to and from school. i cried like everyday for the first month of school. it just makes me really really sad to feel stranded all the time :-(

Heh, my parents have already promised me my mom's car, but I don't have a license yet.

Yeah, most juniors and seniors at my public HS have cars. Whether they have a permit is a completely different issue (not too many spaces in our lot).

I'm not exactly ecstatic about driving a 6-year-old red minivan, but it gets me from A to B.

getting a parking permit is a lottery at my school. So even if you have a license you still might have to be dropped off by mom or pop.

^^ At least you have student parking...everyone at my school has to find all day parking on the street.

Wow. I don't have a car and won't get one until I get a job until college. I hate to say this, and I am sorry if I sound obnoxious, but this is the most "spoiled waspy child" thread I've ever seen in CC.

sucks not having a car when everyone at my school has a bmw, benz, or lexus. ajgnakhnaerh parents -_- made me get a license and wont give me a car

haha yeah i thought about that, but hey, SO many people have cars... its not like im asking for a BMW or whatever. even a like 10 year old honda would be better than nothing! and i've had my license for almost a year. yuck.

I drive a volvo to school and am a junior. I go to a small affluent school so a good percentage of the kids drive really nice cars. I dont think it matters too much, as long as the car is reliable everything is a-ok with me.

Son has a car. It's a 1990 Amigo that cost us $650 :) The car is as old as he is!
Hey, it's worked for over a year since we bought it.

yea we got student parking too. for seniors and juniors

i cannot wait until I get my license....like a month or so, hopefully, and I will throw a complete tantrum until I get a car. I don't care what car. As long as it gets me from point A to point B without killing me in the process, I'm good.

I've gone through helllll this year not having a car. I would GLADLY take the bus.
The problem is that there are 2 schools in my district, and I don't go to the one I'm supposed to (long story), so I don't get a bus. It's about 15 minutes driving...so walking or biking is not an option, especially when school starts at 7:20 and its somewhere between 20-40 degrees for a good portion of the year.
My mom drops me at school on her way to work, but I have no way of getting home afterschool. Until this year my bff, who lives about 2 minutes away from me and also should be going to another school, her mom used to bring us back after school at 2:45 everyday, leaving 45 minutes for any clubs and extrahelp. This year my bff can drive. BUT she played soccer (I quit) and is now doing track (pshttt yeah not doing that)...during the winter I was able to have a ride home everyday. What a luxury.

During the fall, and starting againt his week, I have to hitch rides home with people. This wouldn't be so bad....if it wasn't for the fact that, because I go to a school outisde my zone, EVERYONE AT SCHOOL LIVES 15-30 MINUTES AWAY FROM ME. Very few people are willing to drive out of their way to drop people off+there's always the extra gas that you're wasting.
Thus, at least 2 days a week I'm stuck after school until about 6PM, waiting for either my friend to finish a sport or my mom to get back from work.

And that's only school. I could go on about how my parents are completely unwilling to drive me to my job and volunteer work, leading me to be only be there inconsistently and messing up a ton of ECs, but that's a whole other story.
