who gets interview and who doesnt.

is it true that only ppl who has made it past the first reader get an interview? and auto rejects and auto admits don't?

do you know of ANYONE who has gotten into princeton and did not get an interview? was he/she particularly strong?

and do you know of anyone who has NOT been admitted to princeton NOT getting an interview? and was he/she particularly weak?

I am just wondering..... i know interview is not that big of a deal... but im just curious, it seems that some ppl get interviews 2 weeks early than others..

I have the same question about the lack of interviews, but I doubt that getting interviews early signifies anything. If I'm wrong then that's great.

I got the call on 11/5 and was interviewed on 11/7, apparently at least a week before anyone else on CC (and at least two weeks before Princeton ED applicants from my school). But maybe my interviewer just happened to be less busy than others?

I don't think any apps have been read yet--or at least, that was the impression that the admissions office gave me when I called to insert a new award in my application last week. I asked if it was possible to put it in before my file was read, and the woman was like, "Of course--that's not for a little while." Also, my interviewer told me that they needed to get their interview reports in by the end of November "before your file is read." So...I don't think they'll be read until after this weekend. It's kinda disconcerting that 2,000 files will be read in a week (I'm assuming from Dec 1 - Dec 8/9), but I guess that's all they'll be doing. If you don't get an interview, maybe there are no alums near you?

they are not going to reall all files next week. most have been read already.

that is freakin' scary...

really? hmm...but then if you're missing something according to the second confirmation--a teacher rec, sat scores, or school reports--aren't you pretty screwed? I haven't even received mine yet, and if I AM missing something, that probably won't arrive until next Friday, the 3rd.

yeah, same here. I want to know, dangit!

My friend who is there on the swim team didn't get an interview...as a recruit, he was probably a strong enough candidate without one. When asked about it, he said that not getting one could definitely be a good thing....

I know a soph. at pton who never got an interview. You guys are over thinking this. Some people don't get interviews only because there isn't enough time to interview everyone. That's what my interviewer told me.

hmm... my interviewer said he got my information late... im not quite sure whether thats a good thing considering this talk about auto admit and auto reject piles

it's a load of nonsense. if you didn't get an interview, you just didn't get an interview. they don't use interviews sparingly. interviews hardly factor into the admissions process, and if you get one you should consider it a nice opportunity to talk about princeton the magnificent. if you don't get an interviewer, either you live in an odd place where active interviewers do not live or you live in a place with far too many applicants and too few interviewers.

exactly bokonon. interviews reallly do nothing to help ur application

i havent gotten a second confirmation OR an interview

im scared ya'll.....

i got an interview on the 15th, but they mailed me last wednesday saying that they didnt recieve my Second Teacher Recommendation.

So i think that the interview process is completely independat from the rest of the application process, and so all u guys are thinking too far into things.
My interviewer said that Pton's policy this year is to contact every applicant. So if u havent been contacted yet, hmm... possibly there are a lot of ppl applying from your area, so it takes the alumni longer to get to you. Just a theory.

YES YES YES!!! I finally got a flesh-and-blood face-to-face interview. I was thinking that I would have to settle for a phone interview with the Tuscon rep that I contacted, but the Phoenix guy's secretary called and said that the person originally scheduled to inteview me was called out of town, which was the reason for the delay. Tomorrow, after school. Just in time to make the deadline. I have not been lost in the system!

Who gets interviewed (and when) amongst those applying RD?

Good luck, silmon! If it does not go well, defenestrate him. Mwahahaha...but it will, so no worries :)
