Are you saying that your daughter will have 14,000 loans for all 4 yrs? Or 14,000 a yr?
To be under 20,000 in debt upon graduation is good.
This is a big week. We will see how it all turns out and compare packages. Good Luck all.

MTnest2 - $14,000 for all four years which still bothers me even though like you said that is considered a good debt (if there is such a thing)…she was also accepted into Suny New Paltz and we got their financial aid package today and with their package she wont have to use the one loan they did offer her at all I could take that on which would mean 0 debt upon graduation, so now its Syracuse vs SUNY New Paltz financially, I thought once the acceptances were in the hard part was over but this decision making process is worse once you see the money being offered!

I got accepted without sending anything in. And then I got an email saying ignore the previous email and look at my application status. I then sent everything out a week ago and got rejected :S
Are they allowed to do that !?!!?!

university, that is terrible!! I am so sorry you had to go through that! I don’t even have any advice because I’ve never heard of anything like that happening. I wish you best of luck though…

Wow! that is horrible! Are you supposedly an incoming freshman or a transfer? Because I’ve heard of international transfers getting accepted without sending anything in! Even the application fee! I’m just curious if they were rejected afterward as well…

My D was accepted at Syracuse and the FA package came soon after. While I shouldn’t complain because she got a fair bit, it still left 23K hanging per year. We are waiting on other school offers now to see if they can do better but based on what some other schools have offered, I think this is the debt we are looking at anywhere. We are very fortunate in that she does have the money for at least the first year and part of the next. Here’s to pb&j and soup for the next 4 years!

@KC_44 Thank you. Syracuse wasn’t really my top choice… I got into Bentley, Boston, Northeastern, UMiami, Pace and Penn State though, so I guess everything’s fine :)

@tfm991 I’m an incoming freshman… But I think it’s completely my fault, I thought I got in so I didn’t really bother sending my stuff in. And then like maybe a month later I did. I didnt really follow the deadline. It wasn’t like my stats were bad or anything. I think it was just the deadline.

did international students really get admissions with out a transcript?
you guys know that syracuse does not give aid to international students right?
something smells fishy here…

I just saw it in another thread… I think they did send transcripts but I meant that the requirements were still incomplete. I think it was just an error and the university probably corrected it eventually.
