I am just curious, I didn't see anybody post on the forums recently that they got into WFU with an ED application. Who got in and what were your stats if you don't mind. Thanks.

Hey JKirk.
I got into Wake ED (applied around October). Here's a few of my stats:

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 1380/1400, 2090/2400
[] SAT IIs:Didn't take
[] ACT: 30, but didn't send
[] GPA: 4.something? My school weights oddly, lol
[] Rank: Top 10% I believe.
[] Other stats: Head editor of creative literary magazine, lots of community service, debate...a few more. I had only a few extra-curriculars but I focused my involvement in them and concentrated on not listing a lengthy list, but rather showing what I really want to be involved in/things I may continue when on campus. That sort of thing.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: I took the LONGEST time on these things, which is why I didn't submit until October. Tried to write about things I cared about (e.g: hard not to be passionate with the outrage essay, wrote tongue in cheek for "issue you don't support", etc) , while also incorporating my creative style. I made sure to personalize the essays as well (mentioned possibly joining the Old Gold and Black/Three to Four Ounces when on campus because that would be continuing what I love to do, stuff like that). (I do a lot of creative writing on my own ;))
[] Teacher Recs: I think they were pretty good, but I didn't get to see them.
[] Counselor Rec: Good...I think. (see teacher recs above, lol)
[] Hook (if any): Umm...I visited? lol, I don't think this counts.
[/ul]Person:[list]
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[li] major strength/weakness: I believe my essays were the strongest point in the application. I tried to show my writing style without being overly wordy. Clear, concise, but they told a story while also conveying a bit of my personality. =)[/li]Weakness....I mentioned that I hate math? lol I actually thought it would be my scores or something.

Anyway, I hope this helps. =) BEST of luck this coming round!!! I'll be crossing my fingers for you!!!!!

Wow...I hope I'm not the only person on these boards who got in ED....

Then again, maybe most people have lives and aren't on these boards often. lol

I suspect you've nailed it. :) Once you're in, these forums are sorta left for junkyard dogs & CC junkies, I suppose. Hey, congrats on ED at a really terrific, unique school. Hope you love it there. Make sure you join the Demon Deacon Devils ... or whatever they call the basketball booster boys and babes.

My daughter made it ED. I will ask her if it's ok to post stats. Good luck to you all.

Silver, congrats on getting into Wake. I also got in ED (three years ago)... I knew Wake was the place for me. I had mid-to-high 1300 SATs, good ECs, and was top 5% of my class.

Way to mention OG&B in your application, I am a sports writer for the paper and really enjoy it. Definitely get involved with the paper. Their office is on the top floor of Benson.

Also, I see you are a debater. I'm sure you could tell me more about Wake debate, but we take our debate team here very seriously. We got second place in the national tournament last year (the team celebrated by rolling the trees outside of Carswell with toilet paper... pretty cool).

Just for future reference: When someone asks you your strengths and weaknesses, try to answer with things you are improving upon, and show that you are taking the correct actions to fix the situation.

Hope you enjoy your first semester at Wake, and feel free to PM me with any questions.

Congrats for getting in, silveronthetree. For one reason or another I was deferred but I hope to get in RD!
