I want to apply to UCSB as an incoming freshman. For those of you that got accepted this year, what were your stats(gpa, test scores, extracurricular's, number of AP/IB/college classes etc.)?

4.2, 30 on ACT, a few extracurricular (music, hospital volunteer, clubs), 4 APs/Honors

3.7 ish UC GPA
2100 SAT

extracurricular’s were decent but nothing spectacular

3.9 uc gpa
28 act
no e.c’s

3.3 GPA
1820 SAT
2 APs in HS

3.95 uc gpa
1960 sat
no ap’s until senior year
baseball, cross country, AVID, 100hrs service

Get ELC and you’re guaranteed admission.

Computer Engineer
1970 SAT
4.17 GPA
Good Extra Currics
no ELC but I was a chancellor’s scholar

Whats ELC?

Top 4% of your class! I’m pretty sure you would have already been notified if you were being considered though because you have to get this form signed by your parents. I remember submitting that before the end of my junior year but I may be wrong! Good luck!!

Does anyone know when the application for UCSB will be available online?

You can begin writing in your application in October and then you start sending the applications in November.

4.75 UC/CSU GPA
31 ACT
2060 SAT
Varsity swim team, Drama club historian, various other clubs
12 AP/IB classes total
(AP Chem, AP Euro, AP Psych, IB Chem, IB Eng HL1, AP Calc AB, AP USH, IB Theater, IB Eng HL2, AP Calc BC, AP Phys B, AP Gov)

I’ve taken 16 AP/IB/College classes, and the rest being Pre-IB/honors. Yet, my GPA looks pretty bad. I’ll be extremely lucky to come out with a 3.5UW. I dont know what my UC GPA is because I dont know how they take college courses into consideration. Also, I’m taking the SAT again in October. According to college-board, anything above 600 for each section of the SAT is “above average” for UCSB. Overall, I’m pretty worried.

UC GPA doesn’t consider college classes at all – only your high school classes. College classes are basically to show that you care more than the average student, and that you can handle college level curriculum.

Beware of what collegeboard tells you about statistics. A friend of mine scored like 650 on all of her sections and was rejected. Just try your best and don’t stress out about “getting the perfect score.”

Basically have faith in yourself and write a kick butt personal statement. If you have mostly A’s and B’s in difficult classes, have decent test scores, write an awesome personal statement, and have plenty of extra curriculars you’ll do fine.

^thanks Chloe

UC GPA: 4.04
SAT: 1820
ACT: 24
AP Classes: World History, US History, US Government, English Lang, English Lit, Calc AB, Stats, Psychology

Don’t worry about stats that much. Like chloe said above, do well on your personal statements. An example about how weird the admissions people are is one of my friends was rejected from UCSB, but got into UCLA which is a much more difficult school to get into. You can only do your best and hope it’s enough.

My son had: 3.9 UCGPA/2010 SAT/Boy Scouts/Baseball/4 AP classes/>300Vol. hours/1 CC course/Academic Prep course@ATDP

Do your best and good luck! He got into UCD, UCI and 6 other schools. Did not get into UCLA

Don’t know if my info would be obsolete (considering the fact one full academic year has passed now), but this was my stats back when I was accepted in 2010:

3.8 W/3.3 UW
1810 SAT I, SAT II’s were 680 and 610.
9 AP classes (passed 5).

I think my personal statements helped me a bit. Or the fact my school wasn’t too competitive. I dunno lol.
