Actually...they rejected Spielberg twice! They mentioned this on the tour...and now of course, he has an honorary degree from SC.

and a building named after him.

actually, spielberg was denied 3 times...

and he donated the building to USC when he lost a bet with George Lucas (Lucas bet Spielberg that Raiders of the Lost Ark would be a success, while Spielberg thought it would flop).

Good luck to all you film students. I'm a theatre major, so hopefully i'll be in some student films the next few years!

I NEVER heard from production...hmmmp, that's interesting...

Hi, I recognize some of your names here from other places on CC. I'm researching how to best prepare out 15 year old homeschooled son for film school acceptance. He got an internship on a low-budget family film that's shooting this summer. I hope he'll learn things there that will prepare him to make some good short films.

Do you guys think that in addition to good experience, good academics, and good recs, it is necessary to have made films that have won awards? Just wondering where we should place our emphasis.

Timely, I believe they only accepted 44 kids this year, and that was world wide. It is harder to get into USC film than Harvard, from what I have heard. One parent I talked to at the NYU Tisch accepted students whose son was accepted to both USC and Tisch film did win a prize at an elite Florida film festival (Floridas version of Sundance) as well as having stellar stats. He chose NYU

I just chose to go to NYU over USC.
