What are the new tabs? Are they things that would automatically lead to thinking you got in? I would only want a screenshot in order to see what these tabs are.

Quick question, I’ve recently started checking my portal. I only have one tab though called “My Services”? Or are these not the tabs people are speaking of? Where should i be looking?

I only have “my services” but under that I have three sub tabs “account and personal info” “financial aid” and "other services.

financial aid sub was recently added along with the “Pay Enrollment Confirmation Fee” tab under “account and personal info”. So i got two new tabs. this happened last night and again hopefully it’s a good indication. I guess it’s little weird that no one else is updating right now. but i’m pretty sure not all 30,000 BC applicants are on CC.

dnj:

If you have a tab that says Pay Enrollment Fee, I would call BC Admissions and ask them point blank if it means what you/we think it means. :)

Looking around at this forum, other people have gotten these tabs and were accepted. I’m just hoping that if we don’t have the tabs now, this still means we have a chance and they just haven’t updated everyone’s things yet.

dnjseh, I think everybody is just a little anxious about these tabs. It is a very stressful time of year by nature. Right now, you are one of the few who claims to have the tabs out of the many qualified applicants on this site. If you do have these tabs, I would think that it is a very positive sign.

Uh, sorry if I offended anyone. It wasn’t my intention. All I’m trying to say is that I’m SURE there are more than 2 qualified applicants who would get tabs on CC. PLUS it’s hard for me to believe a new member, with very few posts (especially when CC is ridden with ■■■■■■. The same thing happened last year - people claimed they had tabs when they were ■■■■■■■■). So, call me a skeptic, but I’m going to stick to my initial policy: no screenshot, no proof.

I guess, it is weird that only few ppl got the tabs. Maybe it depends on where you live. I live only few min away from the campus

Hmmm. Maybe they come out in waves like the letters do. You should let us know if you get a letter in the next few days so we can see if that’s the case; closer=finding out sooner kind of thing.

Let’s wait until a more reputable member tells us he or she has tabs.

No, not on where you live.

Yes, that is correct – decisions are mailed daily as they are made.

Having watched the process over the past three years, I’m guessing what happens is this: 1) admissions makes a decision; 2) admissions enters it into their online DB to print a letter; 3) the letter is printed and mailed; 4) the online db sends an electronic alert to Housing and FinAid and IT (for e-mail) and Cashier (for deposit $) adn [fill in other dept] that xx student has been accepted. 4) Those departments perform their job and update whatever data is required in their departmental systems. 5) That whole process updates, typically overnight, and (I’m still guessing) in a batch process.

Thus, letters can be signed and mailed on Monday, and tabs will start to appear on Tuesday. The tabs are the responsibility of the individual departments.

BC rolls out decision letters daily over the course of a week or so. It has nothing to do with geography. 99% of local residents will receive their letters from USPS in one day, but we’ve all heard of the stories that it can sometimes can take a week for a letter to go across the street. It can take 3-5 days for those of us on the left coast to receive the mail from USPS.

Good luck to all!

^ That was very informative! Thanks. :)

Ugh, I’m afraid to check now.

Im not sure if this has been answered already but what tabs will show up if a person has been waitlisted instead of the “pay enrollment fee” and “financial aid” tabs?

will tabs get updated on the weekends too?

^ Hmmm. I really don’t think so. I thought admissions was closed on the weekend?

So bluebayou, you are saying that tabs should not appear until the middle or end of next week because that’s when letters will be sent out?

BCHS:

I can only speak from observing past cycles. (I woulda thought/hoped that BC would be able to “fix” its porgal issue, but I guess it chooses not to.)

If the tabs do appear prior to letter receipt – and that’s a big IF since we don’t know if IT has upgraded recently – they typically start to appear the day after the letters hit the mail. Again, this is my observation of past cycles. But they don’t necessarily appear on Day+1. If Finaid has a question on your paperwork, for example, they may hold processing (and the tab) until the question is answered.

But to the other part of your question…I have absolutely no idea when the first letters will hit the mail. It could be the “middle or end of next week” or, possibly (more likely?), the following week. Like I posted elsewhere, a couple of years ago, BC was still making decisions and sending out letters at the end of the first week of April.

The take-away point is that BC does not mail all decision letters on the same day. It “rolls” them out over several work days (excludes weekends).

Thanks. I guess the tabs will not give me much notice since I live so close to BC. It is probably a better indication for those farther away since the mail will take longer to get to them. But decisions should be mailed out by March 26 according to the portal.

so i guess theres no point for me to check the portal like crazy over the weekend. haha
