Who got scholarship money?

Just wondering what kind of scholarship money they're offering...I got 7500 a year, which seems like an odd number (it's slightly less than half of tuition) but it makes delaware affordable for us (excluding financial aid which has not come yet).

Did anyone get the Dupont scholarship?

My brother attends the Udel and he is in good with the school and he said the kids that were given DuPont had already visited the school and are already in.

wait I don't get it!

DuPont scholarship is given to the top tier students in each class every year. I believe only about 10 kids get it per class. Apprently they find out earlier than everyone else or something because my brother said they already had an a special day for those who will attend Udel as DuPont Scholars from the class of 2010.

yeah, is that the same with honors kids? Because apparently I didn't get into honors. And to be honest that ****es me off because I have good stats. I mean, not to be "cocky," but based off of the stats of honors kids last year (from this forum) I should have been accepted. I know it's more competitive and blah blah, but stillllll. I just really wanted to be accepted into the honors program. Maybe I accidentally cursed in my essay?

i didn't get any scholarship money. i can still attend but it's annoying just the same.

1250/1910 sats (600m 650v 660w)
600 math level 1, 720 lit sat 2's
3.8 gpa (96.5 avg midyr)
17/174 in class etc etc.

I know one of the hardest things they judge you on is your essay. That could have hurt you. Also remember this was the most competitive applicant pool ever.

Delaware Honors is HIGHLY selective - even just getting into the university is selective.

** HONORS: **
25/75th GPA: 3.82 - 4.00
25/75th SAT: 1340 - 1440

meaning you'd be in the bottom quarter with a 3.82 and a 1340. That's tough.

i didn't apply for honors, but i sorta regret it now b/c i have a 3.95 and a decent SAT score

does that mean i dont' get scholarship consideration? i applied before the dec. 15th deadline though

well both my GPA and my SAT are in the top 25 percentile according to that. I really didn't think my essay was bad at all. I guess it was.

alright. I officially take my resentment back and apologize. Hidden within the acceptance letter was mentioning of the Honors program, which I only noticed after reading it twice after my mom said "But...you DID get into the honors program"

LOL. Congratulations!!!:)

haha, thank you. I've done this kind of thing before in the American U thread (again misread something) and I could not help but feel like a complete *******

Daughter received the duPont scholarship. She is very excited. UDel invited 100 students to attend their distinguished scholar weekend and from that weekend of interviews and essays, selected duPont, Alumni, Stark, Alison, & 1743 scholars. The offer is VERY generous. Congrats to all you future Blue Hens!

My guidance counselor had some interesting information to share with me: if you take the number of people who get into an Ivy and divide it by the number of people who applied, you get just about the same number as if you divide the number of people who get into UD's honors program divided by the number who apply. Hopefully that makes sense. So a big congratulations to everybody who got in!

how many people get into the honors program?

The class of 2008 had 492 freshmen in the honors program, so I assume it's still somewhere 500.

I think that all freshman in the honor's program are required to live in honor's housing. That was the only disappointing part of our tour when we were there two weeks ago. The dorms in Russell complex (the honor's housing area) had tiny and very poorly ventilated rooms. They've supposedly built some wonderful new dorms that our freshman tour guide was raving about, but they are not available to honor's freshman.

I got $4500/year.

were honors applicants more likely to get a more generous scholarship amount?
