Who Got the Call?

To everyone that has gotten accepted - congratulations! UCSD is such a great school.

To everyone freaking out because they haven’t gotten a call: please do not freak out. I was freaking out too, until I read this article:

[UCSD Announces Minority Enrollment Push - San Diego News Story - KGTV San Diego](http://www.10news.com/news/22825648/detail.html)

It seams as if the phone calls are a campaign to increase the enrollment of minority students.
Please understand that I am basing this off of a local news article, and UCSD could have quite possible broadened the number of applicants they call
But, assuming that this article is still accurate, read it in order to ease some anxiety!

“Students, faculty, staff and alumni will be asked to take part in a phone call campaign to get traditionally under-represented students to sign up for classes at UCSD, university officials said.”

For all you non-minorities like me, there is no need to freak out!

And also I would like to add that by no way shape or form and I trying to take away for the acceptances people have stated above - once again, congratulations! UCSD is such a prestigious school, as I am sure you already know.

Good luck to everyone else!

so is that mean that if you’re not a minority and you haven’t gotten called, you didnt get in?

@stevesanchezz
What? No, of course not. They’re trying to call the under represented minorities…but obviously, they don’t call EVERY single one of them. If you’re a minority and you got the call, congrats! If you’re a minority and you didn’t get the call, that does not mean you’re not accepted…they don’t have enough time to call everyone. Only a few random people get the call. If you haven’t gotten in yet, don’t worry; there’s still a lot of time…

Here’s a more recent article: [EARLY CALLING CAMPAIGN TO 2012 ADMITS](EARLY CALLING CAMPAIGN TO 2012 ADMITS)

They appear to be random, so some non-minorities may have received calls (according to AskMsSun). Nothing to worry about. The overwhelming majority of the applicant pool will receive their decisions on the regular day.

From her blog:

Just got called by them , but I was taking a nap. ■■■ ( I didn’t answer the call, I just called back and i got sent to a UCSD voice mail")

@Biogen
thats so exciting!
whats your nationality?

I’m half hispanic and half asian

BioGen Congrats, whats your major, gpa, sat, act.

ARGH!! My brother graduated from UCSD, so when my mom saw it come up on the caller ID, she ignored the call thinking that it was just asking him to donate to UCSD. And she decided to tell me this after the phone stopped ringing… Dang it!

I think I got called today? I’m not sure. I got a call from this San Diego number at 10 a.m. The call woke me up and I answered and they asked me if that was my name, and they said some other stuff but I couldn’t really understand them, and at the end he was like I might have the wrong the number, sorry. So I don’t know what to think now, and the fact that it’s a sunday is also weird!

My son got the call on Friday March 2nd, early-evening. The woman on the phone was a staff member & the caller ID registered as University of CA San Diego. As an aside, my son is a minority, identified as ELC, & has a GPA of 4.47. What’s odd is that his portal has not been updated to reflect that he’s been accepted to U.C.S.D.

I was accepted last year but never received a call. So if you don’t get a call, don’t worry :)

Just got the call. I’m not a minority and have a 4.28 UC GPA.

Did anyone else get invited to the overnight thing in early April?

Just got the call as well! Also invited to the overnight stay :)

so does anyone know when the portal will change??and if you got the call does that mean you are in for those who didnt answer?

Son was called and invited to the overnight program. Does anyone know how they determine who is invited to this?

I was working and missed a call today. I called back and it was from UCSD. A lady (probably not the first caller~), she said that I’ve been admitted to UCSD and I will receive something (email?)next week.

I don’t get this. Right now: no emails, no letters, no updates on myadmission.com(well,except this phone call…) So weird…is it a joke? I’m confused…>_<

I mean, my portal has not been updated to reflect that I’ve been admitted to UCSD or not. Only a phone call from UCSD and nothing else. By the way, I’m minority…

I wish I would get a call…all this waiting is so nerve wracking! D:

@Everyone who got a phone call: It isn’t a joke. These are legit people who were given a “list” by the admissions committee to call. I can assure you that your call was real.

I got a call :smiley: They said they will be sending the official emails and stuff next week!
