Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXX,

Hello! On behalf of Asian American organizations on campus, we would like to congratulate you on your considerable academic achievements and invite you to consider applying to Harvard.

Harvard provides a challenging and stimulating environment for both your academic and extracurricular pursuits. Classes with acclaimed professors, research opportunities in all disciplines, and world-class facilities contribute to academic enrichment. Harvard's over 300 student organizations provide a wealth of extracurricular options from dramatic arts to media to community service. The Asian American community at Harvard has an active presence on campus, and boasts numerous South Asian, Southeast Asian and East Asian groups.

While Harvard is renowned for its academic excellence, we strongly believe that one of our greatest strengths is the exceptional diversity of the student body. Our students span a wide range of nationalities, ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds, religious convictions, and intellectual interests. Almost 40% of the student body is composed of minority students, with Asian Americans representing 18% of all undergraduates.

As representatives of the Harvard Asian American community, we would like to encourage you to consider applying to our university. Please contact us, as we are here to help you in the application process. We can be reached at the address below, or through email at xxxxxx@fas.harvard.edu. You can also find out more about Harvard at http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu. Hope to hear from you soon!

well, pretty much all Asians in America got this message - or at least the ones with good scores

raises hand

I'd thought that Harvard would never have ANY trouble with the # of asian students applying there-why the "recruitment" letter?

Still...yay.

yeah, the last thing I was expecting would be a Asian recruitment email from Harvard. Geez, they must really, really want to increase their app numbers so as to decrease admit rate

Anyhoo, yay and was gonna apply regardless of email

I got the same e-mail, only that it was for hispanics! :)

Dear XX,

On behalf of Harvard's Latino community, we would like to congratulate you on your outstanding academic achievements and encourage you to consider Harvard as you apply to college.

Harvard provides a strong academic experience in a stimulating environment among diverse students and faculty. A renowned faculty teaches in over forty different fields, research opportunities for undergraduates abound, and students have access to the largest university library system in the world. Harvard also offers a wealth of activities outside the classroom that cater to a range of interests, from athletics to publications, performing arts, and community service.

Almost 10% of the Harvard student body is of Latin American descent, and there are countless social, cultural, and political activities that celebrate and share this common heritage. Salsa parties, "Presencia Latina" (the annual Latin American cultural show), and panels with different Latino/Latin-American authors, artists, and political leaders represent just a few of these events. Furthermore, Harvard enjoys close proximity to large Latino populations in Boston. This allows us to get involved outside of campus, tutoring and mentoring at high schools, working with ESL programs, and other forms of social service.

As representatives of the Harvard Latin American community, we would like to encourage you to consider applying to our university. Please contact us, as we are here to help you in the application process. We can be reached at the address below, or through email at XX@fas.harvard.edu.
i should tell you this..
like 10 of my friends got the similar letters from harvard, all of them very strong candidates. 9 of them applied EA to harvard, only 1 got in.. The other got into princeton, stanford, etc.

hehe, we all know (or at least I know) this means nothing.

But I must admit, Harvard deserves an A+ for applicant recruitment! (I've gotten thier app twice and 2 calls ugh.)

2 calls! Wow

What about?

Oh, lame. I got one too. I suppose they really aren't looking for people like me. They just send it to students who are asian and sent them scores from a test.

One says considerable academic achievements, the other outstanding academic achievements.

awwww - i got considerable academic achievements
subliminal message telling me to not bother applying?
