who got their housing packet?

I got mine today! yipeeeeeee~
and they gave a sticker too!
well... so i was wondering about your plans for the open house, housing, and meal plan stuffff..

i was also wondering if any of you can give me some advice on the meal plan because i don't really know how much i'm eating if i get like 200 blocks or 300 blocks whatever...

o.. and i'm planning to attend the open house on the 6th or the 12th.... not sure yet... i'll see how everyone else's goes.

Lucky! Mine hasn't come yet...

As for the meal plan, go for the fewest blocks and the most points. You can use the points to buy real food around campus, a welcome respite from the cafeterias...

yeahh.. my brother just told me i should get the one with the fewest blocks........
and i'm planning to dorm in amr I or II.... hmmm.. what's the difference?

you guys were ED right?

AMR I + II are basically the same, I think that II is a little newer, and the mail room and cafeteria are connected to it. I don't think, however, that you can choose between them- luck of the draw!

o thanks silver...
yup chickenlegs, we're ed.

i'm thinking of sending mine in tomorrow...... highly doubt it though..
is that too soon??
can't wait till i visit... it'll be my first time visiting..EVER........can't believe the big apple special for greyhound to baltimore round trip is $16 for april 6th! SOOO CHEAP!

hosuing pckt already? wow, maybe mine will come mon... what is the deal w/ the meal plans, what do they mean?

ooh I can't wait for mine to come. My understanding is that you can use credits to eat at the cafaterias or points to eat at resteraunts on campus. And since Hopkins is infamous for its terrible cafateria food, the recommendation seems to be less credits and more points.

Basically, a block gets you into the cafeteria, where you can eat however much you want. A point is the equivalent to $1, and can be used at Levering (food court type place in the "student union"), MegaBytes (convenience store / grill in AMR II), and I think all the cafes and Silk Road.

Points roll over after the semester; blocks don't. Apparently no one ever uses all their blocks; can you blame them? Also, remember that, in all likelihood, you'll be skipping breakfast most of the time, and the late night food you'll be eating won't be in the cafeteria, as they close prettty early.

Now for the ultimate question... if you had ten points and a day, what would you do? :)

i got mine today... yay

housing -- probably Bldg A & B , but i am gonna go to the open house April 19th and the overnight that night, i will make the decision after that
meal plan- based on what people have said, Block 150 500 Points
(Any one know if we can use points at caf?)

I got it today too...im going on the 19th too!! woot! I wanna check out the buildings before i make a call on housing...im SO excited

I got mine just now! I'm not going to the april welcome thing (round trip plane rides from california dont run cheap) but I can't wait to go to orientation.

andrew - thats cool, hopefully i will see you there, and i can be like, hi, i'm kamini, this is me in person. arent i spiffy

Are the credits/points they give you per year or per semester? I assumed it was per year but then someone here said that points roll over every semester...implying that you get more points/credits each sememster.

I haven't even gotten my admissions decision...?

Don't worry sprkl, we're all ED :)

Points roll over each semester; blocks don't.

You can use points at at least one cafe, Jazzman's, in Levering. Not sure about Cafe Q (In the library) but I would think so.

ah, i meant Cafeterias not cafes, sry for that

sweet - got mine today
