I know that there are a specific group of people who grades the essays. Is this group one that is very eclectic, with many different kind of people all interested in different things? Or is it just a group of people who grades just because its his/her job?

And will a similar group of people grade the essays no matter where you take the SATs?

These are the qualifications for an SAT essay reader:
[Become an SAT Essay Reader](Home – SAT Suite of Assessments | College Board)

Two people independent of each other will score your essay who have the above qualifications on a scale of 1-6 (assuming it’s on topic and legible, or else it will get a 0). Their scores are combined to give a mark out of 12.

However, if there is more than a 1 point difference between the score, a supervisor will step in and score it him/herself on a scale of 1-6 and then that score is doubled.

This is the system no matter where you take the SAT since all essays are forwarded to the same organization College Board. The people, however, may have different interpretations of what a “good essay” is but their marking rubrics will be the same.
