Last night my daughter submitted her acceptance and deposit for Fall 06. The long wait and anxiety over college acceptance letters, financial aid, and deciding on which school to go to is now finally over.

Of course, now the anxiety begins over getting ready for the next big step in life - what to take to school (e.g. PC vs laptop), what frosh courses to sign up for, who her roommate will be, etc..

Who else has accepted Trinity's offer? Tell us a little about yourself.

My daughter is a native Texan (the only one in the family) from Kingwood (a suburb of Houston). She was on the varsity swim team (but doesn't plan on swimming at TU). Her major is International Studies and Business. She plans on doing a semester abroad and maybe the Washington Semester program at American U. in DC.

I have! I'm from Louisiana, a hopeful Economics/German double major. I like to read and enjoy photography, world affairs, and travel (hence the German major with the hope of living in Europe). I want to do the semester abroad in Munich or Berlin. I really hope to work in the European business scene (The Economist being one of my FAVORITE magazines).
Sounds like I might be having some classes with your daughter!

Trinity here I come. Finally glad the thinking and thinking is over. Now to get through my AP exams for this year. I am an international student from the Caribbean and I would maybe like to go abroad too but I have been studying Spanish all these years so maybe Spain or South America. Concerning the PC versus laptop, most everyone says laptop and not a Mac. Now to decide between Huma and writing seminar. I technically will place out of the writing seminar but don't know if I want to do the Huma. I love to write anyway. Choices, choices choices - next dorm choices................

Yep, glad we are on borad together. Trinity seemed like a good match for me and the people seemed friendly and interesting. I'm not sure about the face book thing. I haven't gotten that far.

I'm going! God i stressed over this waaaay too long... mainly my dad wanting me to attend another school mainly b/c of its good name... but i think I made the right decision.

I'm not possitive on my major, but it will most likely be Biology. I plan on being premed.

Computer-wise i'm going to be waiting till the last minute and getting the best tablet PC my parents will pay for, a few kids in my class bought them this year and i've been REALLY impressed with them, so cool and productive, especially if your text books come in electronic versions, haha i'll stop talking about it, but ya i'm a techy person so i get excited by these types of things

I'm from Dallas, TX. I've been here for practically all my life.

EC wise, well i've been playing ice hockey throughout highschool so i have no idea what i'm going to do a trinity... i hear there are some nice golf courses, i'm no pro but i like golf... maybe i'll take up tennis again for fun(haven't played since 8th grade)
i'd also like to be involved in some sort of community service but i'm not really sure what to expect my workload to be like(i'm prepared for the worst)

Greek Life- Not sure. Probably not. Their frats aren't nationally recognized so it really doesn't mean that much other than partying which i'm hoping isn't too much of a hastle for non-greek guys

as for facebook, when do we get emails? my school banned/blocked facebook so i don't have an account as it is... any suggestions?

oh ya and it might be helpful for people to post their AIM screen names, i'll start

AIM: Flashback0422 Anyone feel free to IM me, i'd really like to talk to some of yall. My name's jordan.

Back to melting my brain away as I study for AP's... good luck on them everyone.

Hey Flashback- I didn't think it was all that bad ( AP English test). I don't want to say too much -superstitious you know- haha. Ya, I intend to get my laptop at the last minute too. I don't know what I will do Greek wise but I didn't think it was all that important either because there is so much else there. I liked the community service options at Trinty. I did stress over this for so long too and glad to be able to focus on one now.

Europegirl, meant to ask- did you have hurricane issues with Katrina? Tulane was high on my list pre-Katrina (my Mom's school) but after Katrina, just didn't have the heart anymore. In the end there was always a bit of confusion with anything I needed from them after acceptance so it never made it back up too far on the list. Too much uncertainty yet for me.

re: email, read my response in "Deposit submitted, now what?" thread.

Froshtobe--ah, the hurricane. It's thrown the state into a financial and political SHAMBLES. I don't think I was personally affected (except for the gas rations we had in my area--tons of evacuees flooding in). Actually, on the day of the hurricane, that Monday, it didn't even rain here, and I live about 170 miles north of NOLA. You understand that we have a charity hospital system in Louisiana. Well, guess where "Big Charity" was headquartered. Yep. So when the ground floor was flooded (including a multi-million dollar MRI center) all the records for the entire state charity hospital system were wiped out. My mother is a physician and her charity hospital had to revert to the paper-and-pen system. Blech.

As far as Tulane goes, I wasn't planning on applying anywhere in the state. However, several of my classmates had difficulty getting their applications in--especially my best friend, who was applying EA. Actually, that same guy was DESTINED to go to Tulane--both parents were Tulane alums, mom went to Tulane Med, and he had been psyched about attending Tulane since the eighth grade, come hell or high water. Mm. Life is ironic sometimes. Due to the hurricane crisis and the instability of the entire system (so many people have been laid off), he applied ED to Wash U and that's where he's going in the fall.

Well that is interesting as we know so many places in Louisiana were effected but I really hadn't thought of the indirect damage as you mention. Yea you are right ironic, because I really had Tulane as an exciting idea. In fact we were scheduled for our school visit there when the hurricane hit. We were already in the U.S. and my Dad was meeting us. Then he arrived a week after us (crisis in the office) and so when he arrived he said he just didn't want to spend the rest of his vacation driving from Florida to Louisiana. So we groused and groused and he got the last hurrah that we weren't a tourist there at the time. It was heartbreaking to watch on television, much less live it. Tulane seems back but you said it right, the rest of the system and many homes are a mess. My Mom loved New Orleans, Tulane and other parts of Louisiana but in the Caribbean we have hurricanes and she said forget it. One hurricane watch dor the family is enough each year. They are not nice- been there and done that.

well, to be honest.....i like this death metal song called "Angel of Death - Demons Arise Mix" by "Submerged in Dirt"...
