Who has gotten "low" SAT scores and still made it into Penn?

I got waitlisted from a very competitive area (and i’m white haha) with a 2150…which I thought was low by their standards. I’m happy!

I just got in with a 2130. I think its a miracle. I’m about to die.

I got in with a 1960. A miracle indeed

I just got accepted with a 2050 SAT. But I also had a 34 ACT.

Got in with a 1950…

I got in yesterday with a 1800 SAT and a 30 in the ACT. I’m from Puerto Rico and had really good ECs and was at the top 5% of my class.

I was accepted with 1880, superscored. I’m still expecting an “april fools” email from them soon.

I only had very strong extra-curriculars, a great common app essay, and a strong transcript at a competitive school in Philly (they usually accept 20ish kids each year from my school). I’m also really well-rounded (athletics, arts, music, etc).

My teacher recs were okay and SAT scores were horrible. I’m still not sure why they accepted me…

denied with a 2000 :(

I am asian sooo

I’m Asian and was accepted to Wharton with only a 2190 SAT. But I had a 35 ACT too.

this thread has been sooo comforting
i have a 2150 SAT I, 760 SAT II Math and 740 SAT II USH,
took 4 APs junior year, APUSH 4, AP Lang 5, AP Calc AB 5, AP Chem 5
GPA is 4.5 weighted, 4.02 unweighted on a 4.3 scale
But I was told by my college counselor that I have 0% chance of getting in Penn Arts&Science ED so DONT EVEN APPLY
…i was pretty sad, do you guys think I stand a chance?? :frowning:
Cuz from reading these threads I don’t think my chance is that bad right??? BTW I’m female, Asian from Cali

Last year, a white girl at my school (in an over-represented state) was accepted with a 30 on the ACT and pretty good ECs, but nothing stellar. She was, however, first generation and wrote an extremely compelling personal statement.

For all those who got in with low scores (below 2100), what ethnicity are you? I’m asian so no chance with 2040? have pretty good EC’s but go to a small school sooo

as part of my procrastination for finals, I’ve decided to log on to every possible source I can to avoid studying. TO above, you will be fine. Not in the sense that you will be definitely accepted to Wharton, but in the sense that no matter what school you go to, you will end up okay if you put your mind to not not having regrets there. I think if you have the initiatives to do great things, you will.

I have great friends who don’t go to ivy league or even any relatively ranked school. But because they are go getters and stellar in that sense, they are the leaders at their school, and that stands out. Or you can be average in a sea of over achievers (not saying that’s a bad thing).

I am Chinese and have a 1950 SAT score… I got into Penn, not only that but I got into the Roy and Vagelos Program! It is possible, even as an Asian :)

I’m an Asian with a 1960 and I got in so it’s definitely possible.

I got into Penn with a 1930 SAT score and a 28 ACT score.
I’m pretty sure both of my scores are considered LOW.

I was just accepted with an 1890, and 27 on my ACTs!

Edit:
I’m also Asian and Jamaican. Not sure if the latter helped, but it is possible! UPenn’s decision is holistic. I know that several people say that, but I’m a prime exampe! I don’t think they emphasize too much on test scores and grades.

^Yeah, I scored a 2380 and a 36 and I was flat out rejected from Penn (and I’m not Asian). It was definitely a holistic review and I don’t believe that just one part of an application will get you accepted or denied from Penn.

Y’all need to calm down. Im indian in cali and these were my scores: SAT: 790 wr, 730cr, 740 m SSAT: 800 Math II, 800 BIO(e), 800 USH, ACT: 33W, 35M, 36R, 34SCI, Comp:35, Combined Eng/wr: 32. See, I’m indian and go to one of the most competitve high schools where we have 5 people get 2400’s per class and yet I still got into wharton. Don’t worry, show stregth in EC’s if testing isnt your thing.

Worried :frowning: Good thread btw!
