I always thought it would be junior year that is the toughest and most stressful. My friend, on the other hand, keeps insisting that senior year indeed is the hardest and most gruesome. What do you guys think?

Beginning of senior year (w/classes & college apps)>junior year>the end of senior year (once you're already in)

Junior year > Beginning of senior year > Sophomore year > Freshman year > Rest of senior year :)

Keep in mind I'm from a small private school but from my experience...
Junior year, by far. Even if the classload is the same the teachers usually have much more respect for their seniors. A lot less busy-work, more discussions. In general, the administration has laxed and aims more at keeping their seniors happy (LOVE the senior privileges!). While during junior year, on the other hand, my class was continually told that that year was going to be the toughest, most rigorous, most gruesome year (the teachers were determined to uphold this status). The lectures now merely consist of battling senioritis. It's wonderful.

I agree with Yau, except that I'm from a HUGE public school. XD

Junior year, by far. So far this year I have been told by one of my teachers that I will not have a test for my final exam/midterm, but rather a Mock Trial (who doesn't love that?) and that he wants me to be a lawyer for said Mock Trial (again, YAY!).

I've also noticed that teachers are more flexible with the agenda for given days. I've had my teacher for Philosophy/Bible as Literature (same teacher for both) push assignments back several times already. Also, last class in Bible Lit, we spent the entire period in a Socratic Seminar (we got carried away) when we were supposed to be doing other things...but it was the most stimulating class I've had in a LONG time.

I'm loving Senior Year so far. Junior year=hell for me.

I'd say seniors. I think the work is harder junior year and part of second semester for seniors is pretty relaxed...but the seniors face one thing that murders them and that is uncertainty

Not knowing where you will live next year, if all that work you did will pay off, if your friendships will remain, etc. The uncertainty is what transforms them.

^Very true, and an excellent point. I actually hadn't considered that.

I was driving home from a church thing last week when it really hit me that I'm going off to college (the first one in my family to do so)...and it scared the crap out of me. XD

By going off to college, btw, I mean actually going far enough away that I have to live in a dorm (7-8 hours).

Agreed with the two above.

Work wise? Junior year.

Stress wise? Beginning of senior year takes the cake. (Work wise could be close too, like the same amount of or more AP/Honors classes, finishing up SATs, along with college apps...has the potential to be crazy.)

Seeing as my favorite university is also a safety, it completely eased the work and uncertainty with college apps/admissions. Most of my APs were also junior year, along with the SAT/ACT. So now I find it thrilling to be planning all the college details (housing/dorm amenities/laptop/ect) and last-minute friend trips (springs camping!).
Although with this being CC, I imagine college apps are usually much uglier and much more stressful.

Being scared about your life isn't as hard as actually having to work 17 hours a day (4-5 hours for sleep, if im lucky!) during junior year :(/

I'd rather be scared like **** than this right now, lol.

I've already been accepted to my 2nd choice, which eased things a lot (now I know I'm actually going to college and not just to a CC XD)...now I just have my ACT on Saturday and I can relax and focus on enjoying Senior year even more.

beginning of senior year >>>>>>>>>>>>> junior year
its stressful beyond belief. seriously

I definitely think that it is a matter of perspective;

Junior year: workload, trying to improve GPA, SAT's, ACT's SATII's AP exams
Sometimes you feel that you cannot do enough..Always, trying to work harder to do better.....

Senior Year: If you have a decent amount of matches and safeties, it's just a matter of time management for applications...After that, it's stressful, but out of your control at that point......

greensticky got it right. I had an unbelievable amount of actual schoolwork last year, and I thought I couldn't be more stressed...but this year proved me wrong. There are just so many little things that pile up between activities and classes and apps. It's not a question of homework, it's a question of BUSY.

Senior year, no doubt. A major difference for me is that I go to a huge public school where juniors seldom hold leadership positions, so I didn't have to worry about running clubs last year. Oh, and I had two less APs junior year.
