Who has started studying for January SAT IIs?

It's over two months away, but this is CC...

I plan to start self-studying Biology E and Math II (retake) in early December. Using Barron's and shooting for 800 on both. Might pick up some official SAT IIs from CB as well.

r u only using barrons for bio? Do u think that is sufficient for an 800?

I haven’t received Barron’s Bio yet (ordered 2 weeks ago arggghhh). However, I’ve heard it is VERY lengthy (as are all Barron’s books). Hopefully reading it multiple times coupled with subsequent practice tests, supplemented with official CB practice tests, will suffice for an 800. We’ll see though.

I used Barron’s for the SAT 2 Biology exam and got a 780 (not an 800, but pretty close). I think that it is definitely enough preparation for a perfect score though.

How many times did you read through it?

It’s important to note that I am SELF-STUDYING. I haven’t taken AP Bio yet.

I also self-studied the material (over the summer though). I read the book through countless times (at least 15) and I took meticulous notes on every chapter. I reviewed my notes quite a bit too. It was a lot of effort but I’m happy with how things worked out :)

15 times!!!
Wow.

Did u use any other resources?
What more do u think u could have done to have achieved an 800?

I could have read it a 16th time  Seriously though, I think that the difference between a 780 and an 800 is statically insignificant, which is why an 800 seems to be more luck than anything else. I think that had I taken the “right” test I could have got an 800. I stuck mostly to Barron’s, but I did read PR once or twice. The tests in PR are quite useful. I wouldn’t worry about getting a perfect score though-it is really not necessary for any college and it is really hard to do while self-studying. Any 750+ will be regarded highly by selective colleges.

I’m going to take the Math IIc test on January, already reserved a copy of the Barron’s prep book and the 15 practice tests book thing. Probably going to start hardcore studying about a week or two from now.

I started studying Literature and US. History about 3 weeks ago, but haven’t studied as much because school is such a time killer. Now that I have about 2 weeks off, though, I’m going to try my best and finish as much USH as possible. Literature is more about doing practice tests anyway.

I ordered my Barrons Math II book. I’m about to start some hardcore studying soon. I hope it’s enough for an 800.

I read through barrons once, did all tests… and then read through princeton review, and did all the tests… ended up with a 780… so i think it was pretty worthwhile lol
